During my stay here in Cebu, I've asked my mom to give me "maize" (corn) instead of the usual rice. Sometimes she embeds "kamote" (sweet potato) in the rice or maize to make "sandoloy".
Maize or Sandoloy is much more nutritious, iyan ang kinakain nating mga Cebuano, kaya si Flash Elorde matibay ang mga kamao at paa dahil sa maize, what we eat as a staple food instead of rice, ang grinded mais
ha ha ha nag eenjoy lang ako sa cooking lately and hey i would love to cook for you and barkadas..sige promise pag naka uwi ako i ready lang ninyong mga ingredients then i will cook like Bulalo, Chicken with Pineapples and pickles etc, Morcon, Kaldereta with Peanut Butter, Fish in Coconut Milk with curry, Beer Tripe Spicy.....at iba pa ha ha ha parang Fiesta ito ah..pero i will need some help din sa pag cut ng veggies at meat.. :)

or pumasyal kayo dito and i'll be very to cook din..
Binlod cooked thickly is like the Italian Polenta. They just put butter and parmesan cheese on it. The Cebuano binlod is of such fine consistency , you can feed it to a baby. Ay, inun-unan! Love it, lalo na kung tulingan.
Ako rin, matagal na akong hindi kumain ng Sandoloy. I think , elementary student pa yata ako from my dad's province in Quezon. I wonder if that can be done here. I guess I have to look for the right corn. Cat, pwede kaya yung popcorn kernels i-food processor tapos i-halo na lang sa white rice or brown rice? What say you? Is the mix 50/50?
ooh...ooh...I just found the last jar of of ube (purple yam) from Good Shepherd

for binlod we eat..sometimes we do put butter (or as is lang sya)...and then milk and sugar to taste (or acc to taste of the eater)...
I fooled my dad saying we had found Farina! LOL We usualy have this or oatmeal for breakfast before.
I can't find this product anymore or anywhere - there used to be jars and jars of Farina (cream of wheat) which my dad likes very much..I tease him its just baby food or for the toothless..hehehe!

hmm...the corn I am specifying here is more like finely ground corn (we differentiate it by numbers..saying numero 10, numero 12 etc.)...I think in the US don't people have corn on the cob or maybe corn grits prepared the southern style?

I believe they also use it for making "binatog", a snack of boiled corn sprinkled with salt or sugar and grated coconut. When we were kids, we used to make that in the province pero mag papaltos ang thumb mo para alisin lahat ang corn kernels from the cob. I don't want to do that anymore..he he he

You're so lucky!...you never gain weights at all...how do you do it!...you must have great metabolism huh...anong sandoloy?...we have corn n the cobs, popcorns & grits here...i like steam & inihaw na corn on the cob sa atin...
nah...timing lang yan that I lose the weight when I go back to Manila...hehehe..eto ngayon, I've been eating maize for 2 weeks and I've gained a tummy almost like Garfield...hahaha!
