Probably more than 25 years have passed since I first saw one of my most favorite martial arts film at the height of the betamax craze - behold "Shaolin VS. Ninja". I channel-surfed and and its shown on cable though the title was "Heroes of the East"! Too bad I wasn't able to catch the start of the fight scenes. What I really enjoyed about this apart from the reason for how the conflict started (who said marriage between a Chinese guy and a Japanese girl was going to be easy when cultures clash?) was the showcase of Japanese martial arts alongside the more typical Kung Fu used in most Hong Kong martial arts films at that time. I also just found out that the main character here (Gordon Liu) was one of the awesome fighting characters in the "Kill Bill" movies!

Pasta al Limone

Description:
Mommy Loy's version

Ingredients:
pasta
garlic
butter
olive oil
salt and pepper
lemoncito
parmesan cheese

Directions:
cook your pasta then saute garlic with butter and olive oil. add the pasta, sprinkle with salt and pepper, mix very well. Squeeze a lemon over it or calamnsi if there's no lemon. Then add parmesan cheese. Voila! pasta al limone.

Drank two tall glasses already of rose bandung...I feel rosy-cheeked (haha..I finished the last of the red wine I had earlier).

Phew! I didn't even notice the earthquake that rocked Northern Luzon on June 17, 2012. Too busy drooling or snoring... Am glad though the 6.1 magnitude quake didn't bring catastrophe. To friends and acquaintances near its epicenter in Zambales, hope you are all ok.

Hmm....which to watch? Norse mythology or buccaneers? Thor or Pirates of the Caribbean? Ah, bed weather...I ought to go catch some zees and dream of a movie which has both types of characters.

Some time has passed since I spent an actual "Father's Day" in June with my dad in Cebu City - I'd like to think though that in the days and years before his death, all the time I spent with him was a "Cat's Daddy Day" :-)

What kept me interested in the movie "The King of Jail Breakers" was why in the world the guy kept on escaping from different jails to make his sentence heavier but always let himself be caught after a short time. The ending was just ....typically Japanese :-)

Just what I needed to unwind from problems - unexpected watching of the award-winning thriller movie "Oldboy" 올드보이. Such a fresh twist of plot..I'm wondering about the manga its based on.

Indulging in an unexpected wuxia film "Little Dragon Girl" as I was channel surfing while waiting to digest. Action sequences were enjoyable as usual, but that condor was just...just so fake..huhuhu!
