http://www.maigo-chan.org/ruroken.htm
Rurouni Kenshin (Ruro-Ken) the first manga I ever ran after and saved my money for! Rurouni isn't really a word in the Japanese language..though it can be based loosely I suppose on "ronin".
Unfortunately... although there was an almost complete collection in Makati Cinema Square (of all places)..it was in Chinese! waaaaah!
I had to content myself by reading the translations..it was only later when I got a hold of the scanned manga...and its lucky this site is still up because when Viz usually churns out the English graphic novels, sites like these have to be taken down...

You are really a huge fan of manga. Talagang magha-hyperventilate ka sa Japan, especially in that huge store I told you about in Tokyo where they sell previously-owned comic books and toys.
ReplyDeletesa tingin ko Sir B, if makita ko yon..magpapa-Japayuki ako, at mag volunteer ma enslaved ng yakuza as long as they supply me with manga (pero with English translations na)...
ReplyDeletethe people I know here sa Phils mahilig lang sa anime version ng manga, which is such a waste din kc if you read the manga, there are nuances in it not captured in the anime version..plus, they take liberties with the storyline..plus ang corny when they dub it in Tagalog...over sila...grrrr...
dream kong makapunta ng Japan and visit not only the shrines and get into an onsen, but also to spend at least 2 whole days in the kind of store you mentioned...I will probably go home with only manga and dvds sa bags ko..hehehe
Nai-imagine ko na. Cat checking in at Narita airport and being charged for overweight boxes. : )
ReplyDelete*shudders* ok lang..mag-da-diet ako ng 1 month para makabawi sa gastos nong mga ganon....at least I'll starve while happily reading...
ReplyDeleteay...to have Barnes and Noble outlets lang sana dito...*sigh*
cat, my two younger kids are addicted to manga too...hay ang gastos...they are $9.50 and up, eh my girl (yla) , she can finish 3 books in a day, talagang addict...hehehe
ReplyDeleteCat, ang alam ko lang na manga ay ang prutas. i'll check out this link to get to know u more. =D
ReplyDeleteHLH Hindi ka nag iisa chiara, I just learned it from my kids....
ReplyDeletemahal nga dyan ano..I remember I brought some from barnes and noble..so with tax and everything..*sigh*
ReplyDeletemeron sa internet..hehehe.cheap lang if mahanap mo and ma download
well, ako rin po at first..I was first pronouncing it as like yung "mga" na term sa tagalog (as in mga kapatid)...then mang-ga pala..hahaha..pero ganon yung spelling..
ReplyDeletejapanese manga are comics sa tin..pero b/w usually
ang maganda is yung graphics novel kapag pinalabas na sa Viz...colored na..yehey...tapos compiled ba..I think these are what they call tankoubons
