21 years passing like a drop of rain

August 12, 2007 (Sunday)- After watching a movie murder whodunit on cable and taking a long-distance call from Cebu...I trooped downstairs on the building where I currently live and I met up with waiting-for-more-than-15-minutes Paul Sy - an old friend, college classmate/batch mate (CIT, Computer Science pioneers) and a fellow Cebuano...who I've known way back in nineteen eight six.

I first came across Paul when he was knee high to a grasshopper (hmm....maybe not knee high?.....maybe its better to say that he was as tall as the grasshopper?).

And I can certainly remember his shenanigans and idiosyncrasies which drove other people mad during our teenage years, even his love-team-mate in our class..hehehe...ah...nostalgia anyone?

Everything was simpler then and we were all incorrigible teasers...I remember a question I asked him during summer classes - "Paul Sy, are you going to take up Pol Sci?" *ignores glare from said guy*

He had arrived from Hong Kong (or maybe another country in Asia) a couple of weeks ago, and said he'd like to meet up with me in Makati so he could drop off something for me ... uhmm... 'pasalubong' ? Of course I will be generous enough to receive it.....enough said *grin*. I tried to get in touch with other classmates I had in Manila to see if they could also come over....

It makes me sad that my college batch mates and I who are in Manila never get to see each other together at the same time..

  4. yes Me Ann...kaya as much as possible yung mga ganito na encounters I really try to make time..we dont' know when, if ever, we will get to meet again...and touching base with people, however briefly brings some shine to our lives (outside of office work of course)...

    ReplyDelete
  15. Bizu, parang foreign-sounding name. I love macaroons too, sumusumpong na naman ang sugar cravings ko.

  16. hahaha...choori!...Paul is really just a friend...no romantic entanglements and no inclination for such sa mga ka batch ko (college or otherwise)...

    ReplyDelete
  24. the last pic I added..the middle one was (still is) one of my best friends way back in college...we both wanted to become pilots...he went on to become one..ako hanggang theory lang...hehehe

    ReplyDelete
  25. Bizu, di ba we got the meaning that it means something dear or trasure..or a call of endearment in a way..like in Germany some couples would say to each other "Schatz", which means "Treasure" and Bizu is French..

Ang cute ng pic nyo noon..to what airline does he fly then?

    ReplyDelete
  26. hmmph..its just that he went on to the Philippine Air Force (PAF)...

ayaw ipasabi saan sya ngayon eh...whether pilot sya or pirata..secret daw..hahaha!

    ReplyDelete
  27. gigutom gyod ko Nonz...I was watching and reading the posts about the food..and I am of two minds whether I should grab something then go to sleep or just sleep...

hmm..siguro kain lang ako muna..my mom said before - manungkab ang kalag if gutom ka...translation - your soul goes out of your body, pokes at the leftover food in the vicinity and does not come back if you are still hungry...*drool*

  28. Ayaw mo ang Transylvanian, e yung Transvestite puwede? HLH

    ReplyDelete
  29. Secret military mission? Saan pa, e di sa Mindanao. Alangan namang Iraq or Afghanistan.

  30. Cat, good friends are the best lovers! Naks! Bagay talaga kayo! That was the first thing I thought of when I saw your photos!
Nona, magaling ka. Makukuha mo ang email ni Mr Pilot-Pirata. Medyo bulag kasi ng kaunti e. (vested interest para ako ang unang hanapan ni Nona ng European! HLH!)

    ReplyDelete
  31. wow Fatima, is that the voice of experience yung sinabi mo na best lovers ang good friends? abah..abah...that is a story you ought to share over pasta and a good bottle of wine...

my goodness..I have a lot of good friends......possibilities!

kailangan ko lang good friend na di Pinoy...hmmm.......

Nona, pwede pa lookout na din ng Frenchman? this week kc I talked to one our service delivery guys who was in Lille, France (kc yung team mate ko sa Belgium nag out of the office)......ahay...the french accent was so charming..parang ang sarap makipagkwentuhan na di business *wink*

    ReplyDelete
  34. oo nga bagay naman ah...ano ang problema kay pilot-pirata? james bonding eklat na ba to? e ano naman kung singkit? you look like a handsome couple here..unless talagang gusto mo ng ibang race...wag lang transvestite, ika nga ni BNK!

    ReplyDelete
  35. brunch mas type ko ata cat! lam mo na...motherly...di pwede pagabi! hehehe!! see you!

    ReplyDelete
  36. mali yata yung pag match nyo...

Paul is not the pilot-pirata (?) I was referring to in the earlier posts....it is Manyx (the middle guy with his daughter in the last pic) who is one of my close friends in college and who had the same dream as I with regards to being a pilot...ka batch ko silang dalawa actually pero since I took summer classes, nauna akong nag graduate...with Nyx, even if 10 years pa kaming di magkita, we fall very easily into conversation as if no time at all had passed...siguro kc Aquarian...hmmm....

thanks Me Ann...modesty aside, cute kami tingnan dyan sa pic..kc ako ay ubod ng pagka-cute! pwede kaming mga actors in a Chinese movie...LOL...ano ba yan..glory ko lahat..hahahahhahaha!

my ex had also predominant Chinese blood...so am moving on...to other races...hmmm...e kung English kaya.....(thinks of a vampire with English accent)...eeekkkkk

    ReplyDelete
  37. got it! Paul still looks good for you...no matter kahit anong pagka buhol buhol ng stories dito..

thanks and I think Paul will take that as a compliment...but I'm looking beyond the looks department...masyado akong choosy even if maiwanan na sa train..hehehe

  52. Living in a multicultural environment, lahat ng mga nationalities na nabanggit niyo nakasama ko either sa trabaho o sa social life. Ang masasabi ko lang each of these nationalities have their own peculiar ways, idiosyncracies, and ugali na baka maging malaking challenge sa inyo once you get into a relationship. Could be very exciting in the beginning but when the novelty wears out, you'll see the other side of the picture. If you can deal with that, then he must be the right guy for you.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Touche BNK! sometimes nakikita lang natin ang physical attractiveness nga....I would think its culture which would be the big hurdle to look at at inter-racial relationships...I've been exposed to Americans, Indians, Chinese, Japanese, English, Costa Ricans, Africans and lately even though hanggang emails and phone calls lang dito sa office, nag start na rin ako konti with the Middle East and Europe...but that is not enough, coz its a business environment..and we have standards and business practicies to guide our actions...so its going to be a delicate balancing act if one were to willing to try out having a foreign bf or gf...all the more if one gets married to them...

    ReplyDelete
  54. From my almost 3.5 year-experience I would say if you're open to "unity in diversity" and loving the person through thick or thin, it just might work. But please sana hindi long distance.

    ReplyDelete
  55. but F8...di ba..absence makes the heart grow fonder?

    hmm....

on second thought, you are right...it make make it go wander...
