..its all a play on words I say (or rather letters)...this was in the scene when they interrogate a French-speaking Chinese-looking assassin with the help of a nun...I've sunk low in the ladder of entertaining movies...
Chris Tucker looks fatter, and I still like Jackie Chan although he is older... we still have some great action..and there are scenes reminiscent of the previous films, like the contravida na babae, the leaping on the banner and the obligatory street chase. What also made me enjoy the movie was all those scenes filmed in Paris...I was daydreaming as to the day when I could visit this city...and try out my "oui Monsieur" and of course taste the great French cuisine...
A familiar character (I think from The Last Samurai?) is Kenji. At first I was wondering what his and Jackie's relationship was when they called each other brother.and here was Kenji speaking in Japanese..and Jackie is obviously from HK..so there was confusion at first..and some stink too when they landed in the sewers...but at least..French sewers eh?
The female character Genevieve will also give a va-va-voom effect to the guys watching the film...but old characters from the series are there to give you that comfortable feeling of familiarity (the Chinese ambassador is a throwback to the earlier films) ...
I really do not want to give away too much on the plot (which is thinner than a slice of pan pizza hehehe) but if you want a good time and some relaxation from the stress of work, take time out to watch the movie. No startling answers to philosophical questions will bombard your mind, but at least you will laugh gleefully (if you are like me, shallow ang kaligayahan)...honestly, some of the plot twists are predictable (about Reynard for one as being a baddie)....but maybe its a surfeit of teleseryas which has given me an advantage...
Of course, one thing I also look forward to in Jackie Chan's movies are the outtakes at the end of the film..and they still amused me...I shouldn't probably be too amused since I also twist my words around but how secret and seafood..and El Pollo Loco can come out so convoluted is a wonder to me...
I came home after a peep into a sale at PowerBooks.. and my stomach growled since I had only popcorn and a soda during the movie. Being too lazy to cook anymore, I heated up 2 piecs of Spanish bread (why the heck is this called Spanish bread I don't know)
....and I amused myself (and satisfied my hunger too) by looking at pictures of food and a stash of recipe doodlings I had...
...and since I love cheese, here is one for you gals!
Mind you I have not tried it out since I have never bought leeks (though I heard they are good for warding off colds).
LEEKS AU GRATIN
Ingredients;
6 leeks
4 cups chicken stock
3/4 cups grated Parmesan cheese
3/4 cups breadcrumbs
1/4 cup melted butter
Process:
- Remove the top portion of the leeks and throw away the first and second outer leaves. Trim the base and cut leeks in half lengthways. Rinse them well.
- Pour the stock into a saucepan and boil. Add leeks and cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Remove the leeks from the stock and drain.
- Place leeks in an ovenproof dish and sprinkle with the combined cheese, butter and the breadcrumbs. Bake in moderate oven for 10 minutes.
Serves one (me!) hehehe...or ok, maybe 6 people, depending on their love for leeks.
For a more intense feeling...I mean taste, you can replace with spring onions. How about asparagus now that we are speaking of variations?
Yummy..and its good medicine too...
Hi Cat! my boys have been nudging me non-stop to watch Rush Hour 3! Of course, over here, for the past weeks since they have been showing the trailer on tv, the first 2 editions of the film were shown at various times to give you a feel of the duo's box office draw. Well, either that, or to get you sick of Tucker and Chan, you wouldn't want to see them anymore!...But I guess it's worked its wonders, as I heard many went to see them over the weekend, in an effort to steal the Bourne Ultimatum fans away from their seats in the nearby cinema, which has been on, and still going strong, for a month now.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your teaser review and the segue to the leeks recipe - and I shall try it! Thanks a heap!
hi Choie...more realistic of course and a heart-pounding thriller yung Bourne Ultimatum...well I have not seen it yet, but I can tell from the trailers...besides I've always loved the author's novels..and I enjoyed the previous two films on this Bourne series so of course I am going to spend some dieting in order to save money to buy tickets to the film *kidding*
ReplyDeleteI just meant for the box office, after a "more realistic and heart-pounding thriller" as you say for a month now (tagal din!), Rush Hour 3 hopes to steal away its fans for a lighter theme, though no comparison talaga...You know how it is, even for the box office, variety is key.:-)
ReplyDeleteHi Cat, unfortunately the movies here are dubbed into German. So the twisted English words and sentences will have a different meaning when translated into German. If I'm lucky, they might show Rush Hour 3 for the first three days in the original language.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, BTW, I'm going to Philadelphia with Gisela next week. Maybe I can watch it there.
lekat, east coast! :-p
ReplyDeleteenjoy and take care, Jack!
hmmm, papanoorin ko 'to, I'm a big fan of Jackie Chan! :)
ReplyDeleteWhy lekat?
ReplyDeleteit's like to say, "Aw shucks!" you're going to the east coast, I'm at the west...had you been close by, I would have wanted to invite you and Gisela over.
ReplyDeleteyun lang.:-)
mababaw din ako cat..kaya sigurado, kakabagin na naman ako....if you really like to have a laughing trip...ito na ang movie! it spells F-U-N!!! salamat din sa iyung recipe for one person...hehehe!!
ReplyDeleteganyan na ba ako ka-out of touch??? i didn't even know that there is a rush hour 3... i will not miss this, me and hubby will love it.
ReplyDeletewhere in davao will i find leeks Cat? i don't like spring onions... =P
basta marketing..pati movies i-segment yung target market..este target audience...same..same..
ReplyDeletehmm...I wonder if it will turn out funnier when naka German version na? dahil kc sa "Yu" na surname which can be miscontrued as "you" na word ang hilarity eh...ever see the video going around about Bush and Condoleezza Rice which was again a play on the chinese words of "you" etc.? Well, it was like that.
ReplyDeletebon voyage on your trip to Philly...sana madaanan mo sina Choie na nasa kabila nga lang...
ako rin...I still remember watching again and again yung Drunken Master nya tsaka Snake in Eagle's Shadow...ang tagal na non...
ReplyDeletehehehe..rush hour 4, nood tayo?
ReplyDeleteWe watched Rush Hour 3 last Monday night sa Shangrila mall. It was a blast. Ako rin, Cat, maiyak-iyak sa katatawa. I had always liked Jackie Chan, although Chris Tucker for me is a bit over the edge. My favorite there is the French cabbie. Ang galing – that was a hilarious character sketch.
ReplyDeleteLast week, we also watched Bourne Ultimatum. Matt Damon is perfect for the character Capt. David Webb. I also liked the first two Bourne saga movies and that is saying a lot, considering that I usually like only fun, light, mababw na movies like Rush Hour. =)
i've seen Rush Hour 1 and 2 and truly enjoyed them so di ko palalampasin ang RH3!!!
ReplyDeletetwo more weeks pa yata ang showing dito .. tiis muna ako. Bourne Ultimatum is out next week (lagi kaming huli ... hmmp) and i've seen all previous Bourne's movies too kaya abang-abang na rin ako dito. handa na ang popcorn wala pa yung mga movies ano ba yan.
ulitin mo ang 3 with me, then, rush hour 4 naman...hehehe!! bagyo na naman cat...i was literally drenched up to my undies..and i had a jacket and umbrella with me...parang ipu-ipo ang lakas ng ulan this morning...around 9!
ReplyDeleteI was going to go to the office 9 am..then I woke up to this terrific clash of thunder and zigzagging lightning...so, I turned over and went back to sleep...luckily pwede ako mag work from home ...hehehe...
ReplyDeleteewan ko ba...timing siguro..that everytime I water my plants dito sa munting garden ko (perched on top of my aircon are small potted plants)...umuulan..hahaha!
wala? parang nakita ko pa showing dito eh...
ReplyDeleteI was a bit suprised about their conversation in the cab when Jackie and Chris got out of the interrogation..very frank di ba, about Americans and violence...but true nonetheless...I also didn't expect Jorge (?) the cab driver to be the one at the end to do the Big Bad guy in...hmmm....(oops..spoilers)..
ReplyDeleteah..gustong-gusto ko yung unang Bourne movie...I've liked Robert L's novels...iba lang talga sa books..but the movie is notihng to sneeze at either...tapos ni-replay sa cable..its still as gripping as ever...
ay oo...e dito pa naman ...may pirated stuff na lumalabas at binibili..hahay...
ReplyDeletei have the bourne series ni ludlum....ang ganda! siempre mas maganda ang libro..pero maganda rin ang movie!
ReplyDeletefor some reason....using my son's pc...i saw the hello kitty stuff in your homepage!! with my laptop...ala ito!! bakit kaya ganon?
ReplyDeletehmm...baka set-up? si Jack ang pwede nating tanungin kc sya ang multiply guru...
ReplyDeletewhat do you see on your laptop when you get to my homepage?
Cat-girl, please water your plants weekends lang ha. Balato mo na sa akin ang weekdays...like kanina, all roads going to office are flooded, susme, monstrous traffic. Nanood na lang sana ako ng Rush hour 3, enjoy pa at super fan ako ni Mr. Chan!
ReplyDeleteSino kasama mo watched the movie? Fafa?
oo nga cat! wag naman weekdays..nababasa rin ako eh...kahit armed with a jacket and umbrella...grabe i think i went in the middle of it all...hay! sakto ang timing ng sundo..sabay buhos with matching hangin! buti na lang at di ako naka balloon skirt!!
ReplyDeletetut tut tut tut tut ...
ReplyDeleteoks din ang ratatouille, cat-girl! babaw movie, heartwarming din. very eerie and creepy lang pag marami na silang mga daga sa screen...katindig balahibo...ngiiiiii
ReplyDeleteBourne Ultimatum and Rush Hour3 were very good tension releasers. Pero hindi ako naghanap ng Spanish bread. : )
ReplyDeleteMr. Hugz, naintriga ako sa 'spanish bread'. Ay, makapanood na nga...
ReplyDeleteoo, dapat pumunta ka nalang sa movie house Pearl...at least safe from the weather ka pa...
ReplyDeletethis is a good time na ipalabas mo ang beret and trench coat..*wink*
an ex-officemate of mine invited me since it was a screening for the company she just joined...so ayun..napadpad din..kc kung ako lang..baka antayin ko pa lalabas sa cable...hikhikhik...
bat di ka nagraincoat? and boots...and hat...or baka mas ok seran wrap? mwahaha!
ReplyDeleteI've held off from watering my herbs kc nag yellow..nasobrahan..so I cut down to once a week..tapos yon..don nag start...I watered it..then bagyo pala..or baka di lang ako updated sa weather...*wink*
e timing pala...daga..pusa...daga..pusa...match!
ReplyDeletemay tension sa Bourne Ultimatum..kc thriller sya..tapos nawala ang tension niyo?
ReplyDeletesarap ng Spanish bread ah...the last time I ate it was more than 3 years ago..as Cebu pa yon...
by some twist of faith, na discover ko yung Rustan's Ayala na grocery (grabe no?) so I bought a bag of blueberry bagels and the spanish bread....
teka nga muna...you are not thinking of the spanish fly? *gasp*
ay, mas type ang hello-kitty-cat!!! kung ginawa pa nila kasing cute nila mickey and minnie mouse ang mga daga, oks sana. teka disney na yun...
ReplyDeletespeaking of Disney and mice, do you recall the first movie na The Rescuers?
ReplyDeletedi ba ang cute ng mga daga? (ok, I found the fat alligators cute also...hehehe)... The song "Someone's Waiting for You" rang in my ears for about 1 week...
We have been housebound here in Tagaytay since yesterday because of the weather. Hugz and I have been cacnelling appointments left and right. =( And with Monday being declared a holiday, it looks like we are facing a long lazy weekend. it is welcome, too. Multiply, here we come! =)
ReplyDeletegood thing too! looking forward to all your posts this weekend..wala na kayong reason di mag-babad sa harap ng computers (fuera lang nawalan ng koryente or internet..*prays hard* 'wag sana Lord!)
ReplyDeleteSkirt ba kamo? Nagparang-Marilyn Monroe ako one time...and it was because I passed an industrial fan! Ok lang sana e kaso nandun yung fiance nung ka-officemate ko! Kahiya! Sheesh!

ReplyDeletekorek sister! wag naman tipong 'pants standing alone' (read: pantalong pwede ng tumayo mag-isa dahil walang laba), bwahahahaha
ReplyDeleteewwww!!
ReplyDeleteHehe, we had a barkada in UP who marched and got his diploma in architecture wearing his trusty old Levi's under his toga. Kasi daw, it deserved to march with him because it was with him all through his college days. Minsan, si Hugz, this guy and another barkada had a bet as to who can last the longest wearing his maong pants without washing it. LOL, if I remember right, this guy won hands down. =)
ReplyDeleteang kati naman non...double eeeeek....baka lalakad nayung maong mag-isa to escape the clutches of its owner..
ReplyDeleteTriple yikes, ugh!
ReplyDeleteRemember that this was in the late 60s and early 70s. Uso yung mga nanglilimahid na hippies kuno. =p The au naturel braless, long haired, free love-ing, "Peace, man" (and most likely, no ligo) generation, hehe.
ReplyDeletehahaha! Gwiz! wala sigurong labandera yan...hahaha!! quadruple yikes!!! hahaha!!
