The oldest and most common of these are tattooing, ear piercing (for earrings), and circumcision. Some are for social purposes and others the are part of religious beliefs/rituals.
that lengthening of the neck, I can sort of bear that ....but crushed toes and really deformed feet...its uggh....
hmm...why is it usually women? how about the men? not just piercings and tattoos...how about them having bound feet and we'll see if the gay-er men like it :-)
A horrible practice. I remember seeing x-rays of bound feet in Singapore. :-(

honestly? it doesn't make me think of lotus at all..it just makes me think of pig hooves...
