http://japaneseinngroup.com/
This is a special organization of more than 80 Japanese-style inns and hotels in Japan offering inexpensive lodgings and catering usually to foreigners.
Note: some may call themselves ryokans but its not exactly true in the strictest sense of the word - well, if they were, you'd be paying a lot because the true ryokan would have the trademark personalized service and beautiful setting you would expect from a ryokan.

recommended for peeps who want to experience staying in a Jap style room but cannot afford a ryokan (to say it baldly....me for instance hehehe)
ReplyDeletebut some of those listed here have been recommended by guide books and I've seen some pictures from those in my research...quite nice and middle of the road.
may offer also Western-style rooms with private bathrooms...
ReplyDeletemay include coin operated washer/dryer..and a public bath if there's not one in your room
average cost - ranges USD 38 to USD 70 per person without meals...
but you can pay extra for the breakfast if its available (same goes for dinner).
