I pray to the patron saint of travelers to help me tomorrow in my trip. I am going to Asakusa, Tokyo and *cross fingers and toes* meet up with online buddy Ted and his lovely wife. waah...I love Multiply!
Thanks for the info Lou. How does a saint become un-sainted? Is there a regular/deliberate effort to review the Saints' sainthood? Ang na-aaIala ko lang kasi, kapag di daw "corrupted" yung physical body after being buried for a long time, saint yun. I think there should be a regular review, in the same manner as they should also see who are qualified to be declared Saints of the church.
The Eastern Orthodox Church still considers him a saint and although his feast is no longer celebrated by the Roman Catholic Church, most Roman Catholics continue devotion to him with the blessings of the church. Legend or not, he is still popular (even with non-Catholic Americans; they even wear his medals) and will most likely continue to be revered for a long time.
There is a formal canonization process now, Toch...but when St.Christopher was added to the calendar of saints, many saints were proclaimed as such only by popular approval.
I cannot find any reliable bulletin that says St. Christopher is no longer a saint...or that he was "de-canonized." Help.
PS In searching the WWW, I come to the conclusion that nothing new has been declared about St. Christopher since the late 60s.....when his name was removed from the Roman Catholic calendar of Saints, which does not mean that he is no longer a saint. Please let me know if you find out otherwise.

I think the church wants a very good reason for declaring saints because they want it to stand scrutiny by unbelievers. Kung baga nag iingat na slia.

take a bus from ryokan where I stay to Hakone Yumoto station in Hakone then take a train from HY station (Odakyu railways) to Odawara station (JR train) then take train from Odawara to go to Tokyo station then transfer to another train from Tokyo station to another line to get on Yamanote line then get off Yamanote line by disembarking on Kanda station (going the Ueno way or else it will be the long way around the loop) then from Kanda station, get on another line (Ginza line) to go to Asakusa then bring bags etc. to either ryokan or to the place where Ted and I were to meet...which I wasn't sure I could find before 10:30 am..
and this is just supposedly one of the easier ones :-)
waah...Tunde...we didn't get to meet w/ Ted today and Kyoko-san due to a couple of accidents befalling yours truly...oh well, at least, am still up and walking...I will go on to Nikko, I don't care if I have to walk "slow-by-slow"

yesterday, my online buddy Ted and I didn:t meet again (me headbanging on the wall)..the poor man had waited for me..and I arrived 50 minutes late, dahil lang sa baligtad na JR Yamanote line train I got on...*bangs JR Pass on forehead*
one thing I learned, it is not enough to just ask an official for JR...one must ask more than once para ma confirm talaga..
actually, Ted told me it happens here too - that trains get delayed - nasiraan..or ergh - some people throw themselves on the track..
I never thought it would happen to me - to be on a train in Japan na ma-delay..but it happened this morning - less than 24 hours after Ted said delays are not a rarity here *grin*
the funny thing was that there was a bunch of little old ladies seated near me and I tried asking what the problem was, should I transfer or que pasa..
finally, I recognized a couple of Japanese words w/c made me sit tight na lang in my seat and wait ...hehehe...30 minutes delay naman...at least di 1 hour or more...but it did cut my planned itinerary in Kanazawa a bit short and tight...but my goal here - the most beautiful garden in Japan - at least..I visited it earlier today too so success pa rin...
