I very recently had to sign up for Facebook because I wanted to find out a bit more about a friend of Kaiyen who I will also be meeting in Sanfo when I go there this year.
Ok naman sya.......but I can' t even keep up with my Friendster account...so I will still be a Multiplier as long as its here.
Besides I got to make new friends and better yet, even I met them in person through Multiply - so much so that I've got a soft spot for it :-)
Facebook is easy to use and it certainly is the "in" thing in the US right now. It was also easier to see the network of people I knew both in school and at work as there seemed to be a lot of them hanging out here too.
The big problem with "Facebook" is that they will not let you cancel your account once you're in it.
ReplyDeletereally? but if you don't use it often...and its free..then..you can just let your account stay there in their databases and server ...with hopefully no fees till forever..
ReplyDeleteMaybe, but I was really fed up with people I do not know, and don't want to know, continually logging me as their friend. You get no peace from them once you're in.
ReplyDeleteI never even joined it, some clown who thought he was doing me a favour enrolled me using my other e-mail address. I complained, but all they will do is put it on hold.
I now mark all their e-mails as spam.

hmm..maybe i should change the email address I'm using there..so far only the people I know have msg'd me...
I don't also check it that often...I'm more comfortable here...although once in a while you still do get invitations from people who you wrack your brains about if you knew them or not...
Whoa! Hey Cat, I just sent you an invite at Facebook. I enlisted only two weeks ago, at the insistence of my officemates in Microsoft, and some old batchmates from UP Los Banos (I studied pre-med there for 3 semesters only). And I was amazed to have 325 friends now! These are all people I actually know, from elementary school, high-school, college, previous jobs, cousins, relatives and just people I've come across with through the years. Yeah, sure, I do get a lot of invites, but I don't accept unless I know the person...The search engine and database is really something else, through the "people you may know" portal. Imagine all of us 300++ finding each other in just two weeks..!!

Hi John, sorry to hear about your troubles in FB...
One of the good things about Multiply is that you are allowed to filter out invitations. I see many "I've just signed on and saw you were here" mostly people without a headshot, I simply deny to accept.
ReplyDeleteI otherwise use Skype, also their policy is to let the users decide who, and who not can call. It was on Skype that I met most of my overseas friends who later became Multiply users.

in Facebook, I did see a lot from our company and high-school..so ayan.in 1 day...there were lots of people I connected with already...ha! as if I could keep on doing it...am still more devoted to Multiply because I got to meet so many people here already...

Uy sayang, I was here lang in Makati, just having coffee/chatting with officemates...til around midnight, hahah. Wala rin akong lakad kasi for a Friday night...

ReplyDeletei got Facebook, too. i will invite you, Cat. reason why i wasn't inviting my multiply buddies in FB, 95% of my contacts there are those in my industry which you may not be keen to know. besides i seldom post if ever in FB. they aren't in my Multiply contacts naman as they are FB fanatics. my personal site is Multiply having personal friends naman like you. only about 3% of my FB total contacts are in my Multiply. i also have blogger and wordpress. both usage only as my food sites hahaha. i registered on blogger 4 years ago but never really posted anything only until this end of Oct since eco crisis and not busy, i decided to play on a food site. which was why i opened a wordpress only to figure out if it's user friendly which is not as i found out. lahat may charges like if you wanna use a theme not in their default choices, then you pay. yuk! so i concentrate transferring my recipe posting on blogger.

ReplyDeletethe way I look at it, ganon din siguro for me...not much posting in FB though its good to see people there you know..I feel that Multiply is so much more "personal", user-friendly and since its led to other people thru other people..imagine....from the fingers of one hand lang..nakapag-EB ako these last couple of months with you, Joey, Chiara, Che, Sally, C&C...not to mention sina Jack, F8, Pearl pa...and I feel I really get to know you better here thru your posts (sabagay pano naman ma get to know you better sa FB or kabila if di tayo nag popost..hehehe)...
urgh...who wants to pay naman oi these days? ay..di ko na nga nakikita recipes mo lately dito sa Multiply..

ReplyDeletei have faceboook too! tagal na ko with facebook...but since i was active in friendster then and then multiply, i did not get to check on facebook anymore...until my bro got super duper active in facebook and started egging me to post things there as well....now, my high school, college and work buddies sprouted like mushrooms!! i have lots of contacts there..pati co parents...

ReplyDeletejust looking back..I feel so blessed with knowing all of you and with one person leading to another person ...and then ang nakaktuwa pa..is when you do get to do the EB/F2F with the person you've only been interacting here in Multiply...you are comfortable already...
for sure meron namang people who post in others like Friendster etc. but its only here cguro where the interaction is much more honest, sincere and upfront ...na its like just living in the same house although you dont' see each other...or baka sa group lang natin nagkaganon? hehehe...
