Como agua para chocolate (Like Water for Chocolate)

Start:     Feb 21, '09 6:00p
Location:     Instituto Cervantes Philippines
To celebrate the month of hearts, Instituto Cervantes de Manila offers a film cycle which depicts the relationship between food and love in a film.

Since I've seen this movie a long time ago, and I've read the book a long time ago, fellow fans may enjoy watching this in February 2009.

In Spanish with English subtitles
This movie is about how life used to be in Mexico. It is a love story between Pedro and Tita, and why they coudn't get married because Tita's mother wanted her oldest daughter to get married first, and have Tita to stay and take care of her. It shows how marriage was imposed on those times, and how a love between two people can change everything. This picture set a new epoch in Mexican movies all over the world.

  2. count me in if there is food and chocolate involved...

this would be so cool sana if this can be arranged with what Che and I talked about earlier...I've been teasing Meann and Sally with an eyeball due to some developments I've just been made aware of *ehem, ehem* and since Meann didn't get to join us in Tagaytay, and Sal/Jing should be grilled (to perfection), since Pearl has been super busy, since F8 has been loverly...well, a meet-up is due! :-)

I loved the film. My fave character was Anouk. I could have named one of my daughters, Anouk. What a nice and unique name. A perfect match for Concepto, hehehehe....

Thanks for the heads up, Cat.

  14. I read the komiks ng Zsa-Zsa...am not sure if that was the graphic novel (I think of graphic novels as compilations of the editions printed earlier) but yung Zsa Zsa ba ay isa lang na na publish? if so, then yes, nabasa ko..and it was hiliarious..maiyak ako sa office..hahaha (I should have been doing some work)

and it was hiliarious in the sense that I didn't know the badaf terms they were using...and so I asked my developers at that time what the hell is this and that..e laki pa ng boses eh..bastos pala..mwahaha!

A documentary that chronicles the efforts of Jesús Almagro, winner of Spain’s National Award for Best Cook 2007. His next challenge was to compete for the World Championship, the Bocuse d’Or. He thought he was up to the challenge, that preparing was just a matter of time and skills. But he was definitively not ready for what lay ahead.

  20. and...added to the information sent ...

    Berso sa Metro

In October 2007, Instituto Cervantes, in collaboration with the Fil-Hispanic Friendship Day Committee, the National Historical Institute, LRT and MRT launched BERSO SA METRO, a reading campaign in Metro Manila. After the success of this initiative, replicated in a similar campaign by other institutions, we are now launching the second phase of the promotional reading campaign, adding more poems to read along the trains, and gathering in an exhibit all the print and audiovisual designs of 2007.

actually, I wonder how this is done...
