I'm dithering between going on a short hop to Bangkok, Macau, or sleeping the rest of the weekend here at home :-)
---------------------
Feb 23, 2008
Bought PAL ticket. Econofare. 138$ for round trip...I'm being presumptuous in thinking I can take March 9 off, but worse comes to worst...will bring laptop and do some of my work on Monday there...hehehe..*Cross fingers*
Bangkok, here I come!
pwede rin macau kapatid kaya lang baka mahal tiket kase malapit n yung date eh. try mo cebu pac tonight.
ReplyDeleteI echo Che's idea/suggestion especially the "do it now" part. You'll love Macau. You'll surely love the food. It's also great to just go around the main center and the side streets right after a visit to the nearby ruins of St.Paul. It's also a shooter's paradise. Marami din Pinoy who could show you the sites. If you'd like to test your guts, try the Macau Tower bungy jump. It's reputedly the highest elevated level of bungy jump. Check out:

You go, girl!
wow, really? i was thinking 5 times about it last week...akala ko kc..anoba..macau..baka casino lang makita ko..hehehe
ReplyDeleteActually, I think you won't really like the casinos. Kasi amoy yosi lahat. By the way, they only accept HK dollars not the Macau currency called Pataca.
ReplyDeleteyou are right..I don't like casinos...I ate the smoke...and the times I've been in the casinos in Cebu can be counted on one hand..I can't even win against the slot machine maski isang beses lang sana...hmph...
ReplyDeleteprobably also the reason di rin ako mag click if las vegas and gambling lang ang pakay...
hala..cge mga kafatid..sugod! inundate me with ur ideas and tips...
ReplyDeleteI've just emailed 2 travel agencies coz am feeling lazy thinking of getting my ticket..and doing my trip..unless its a 2-wk trip or more
medyo inis ako ngayong araw na to dahil sa isang email ng aming CEO to all the employees...kaya eto..hanap distraction :-)
I tell you Cat, Macau is the best distraction there is under the circumstances. Pag dating sa billeting, pamper yourself. Stay at MGM. Ang galing ng gimmick ng banyo.
ReplyDeleteanong gimmick sa banyo? tell me! *intrigued eyes*
ReplyDeleteteka, teka..may budget ako ah..at recession ngayon...may mga boylets pa akong pagplaplanuhan (o sya, future boylets pero still have to plan *wink*)
ReplyDeleteHehehehe...it's for me to know and for you to find out...
ReplyDeletenothing can beat the toilet seats sa Japan *spoiled*
ReplyDeletehmm...baka yung bath, jacuzzi...some hunks waiting to pamper to your whims? argh..the curiousity is eating me..
No, no, no. Nothing like that at all.
ReplyDelete*deflates like a pricked balloon*
ReplyDeleteIt's something better, more exciting...
ReplyDeleteBangkok baby!hahahaha!!! sama mo si Che...
ReplyDeleteby the way di ako natuwa sa Macau...
ReplyDeletengek!short notice kapatid!alam mo naman sa ofc madali akong ma miss hihihi but surely--i'll be going back to bangkok weeee!
ReplyDeletehihihih baka naman kase iba ginawa mo dun hahahahha
ReplyDeleteif you want to shop, go to Bangkok!
ReplyDeleteif you want to gamble and to take good pictures...because of the places...got to Macau..
if you need to rest, stay put and sleep!
HEHEHE! me, go to Macau!
Kung gusto, pude ka pa tumawid from Macau to HK (and do your shopping there). From HK ka na pabalik sa MNL..
ReplyDeletedi na lang kc sabihin eh....*hikbi*
ReplyDeletesana nga pero si Che has some trips din yata this March...at the same time iba yung off nya...di yung weekend..
ReplyDeletesana nga pero si Che has some trips din yata this March...at the same time iba yung off nya...di yung weekend..
ReplyDeletewhy? I heard magandang pitture-pitture-ran....
ReplyDeletebuzz ka dearie if ganon ha...malay magkatugma mga off days natin....ok, basta off lang ako sa work..maski sa TImbuktu..hahaha
ReplyDeletethis is good summary...and helps me ...
ReplyDeleteI don't want to shop and I don't want to gamble...
but I don't want to just sleep lang..
change of environment....am easily bored...waaah...hmm...Guam kaya...

change of environment....am easily bored...waaah...hmm...Guam kaya...
thanks Chito...actually ayoko magshopping..the last couple of trips I've been on...dami kong bitbit pauwi...this time is purely paiba...see sights, take pics, kain...paiba na hitsura and adventure..
ReplyDeletekailan ka punta?
ReplyDeleteactually may seceonday reason din akong ayokong pumunta HK..hehehe...but maybe I should rethink it..
basta kapatid--mahal ang tiket pagka malapit na fly time.
ReplyDeleteunderstood..this feb lang kc sinabi ang iniba ang sked namin eh...usually yung mga trips ko na personal 3 to 6 months in advance ang ticket nyan..
ReplyDeletetry mo dito sa pinas na lang trip mo.PAL mura yung tikcet basta advance booking. have you been to davao?punta ka kay chiara hihihi.
ReplyDeletesayang kung nataon na day off ko dates na yan--go sana tayo ng laoag kase---friday na first day ko huhuhuhu.
ReplyDeleteyou can do all these in KL!
ReplyDeletehehehe..guluhin ko si Chiarz? e baka manganak yun ulit :-)
ReplyDeleteyeah, been all over Mindanao and most of the Visayas already...so basically ang Luzon siguro ...but ewan..after being in Baguio and other places...siguro Vigan, tapos yung place where they shot that Dawn Zulueta and Richard Gomez fim (ano ba yun ,yung Hihintayin kita sa Langit") and Sagada lang ang maisip kong visitahin...
thanks for the tip though..
waah..sana ang Busuanga trip ngayon na!
waaaaah!!! sayang...well, if may weekend ka na palabas...keep me in mind...di ko pala napuntahan Laoag yata...hmmmm...
ReplyDeleteargh..how nice it would be if the Feb 23 continued to be a holiday..di na pala...seems our govt changed its mind about the Feb 25 being moved to the nearest monday...*sigh*
ReplyDeletespur of the moment, walang plan-plan...
ReplyDeleteayan, just bought the ticket...
no currency yet, no map, no research..so wil have to do that the next few days...
luckily I remembered I bought a book on SE Asia travel before and Bangkok is there..hehehehe *rubs hands gleefully*
come to bangkok! i'm sure you'll love it here!! the food is great, the shopping is cheap, the sight is beautiful! what are you waiting for? :P
ReplyDeleteKat, mag stay kayo sa Fort Ilocandia. It is a very nice place. Tapos pasyal kayo sa Pagodpod. Heto naman ang na miss namin. We ran out of time. Magandang pasyalan ang Northern Luzon. Gusto kong pasyalan ang Sagada next time.
ReplyDeletehi Sherry!
ReplyDeleteyup, have just kissed my credit card and bought the e-ticket *grin*
am there for the food and sights...hope to meet up with you lovely girls and have pictures too! am chuckling over Al's trip...
will be leaving Manila on the evening of March 5 and leaving Bangkok on the afternoon of March 9...whee! excited!!!!
awww Cat. I thought you were coming here in May.. i'll go to Phuket during March 6-8 and also have to go away for a week after that.. waaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! can you either come before March 5 or later than March 13??
ReplyDelete*tears hair out*
Oh Katisha, and here i was expecting your eta!
ReplyDeleteWow super cheap naman ang airfares from Manila - bakit ganun. My friend and I had plans to go to Bangkok (sana) Feb. 25-28 (that being her only day-off) kaso we could'nt get a confirm flight back Narita via United Airlines lang since she is with that company , sayaaaaang! Nakaset pa naman ang mind ko sa spa/massage at the food daw is oishi - palpak na naman!!! Happy trip.
ReplyDeletewaaaah! *sniffles*
ReplyDeletethe company just decided to have a shutdown here in Philippines during March 6....hence I had an unexpected 3-day weekend...
hmm...I wonder if I could manage a hop to Phuket when am in Bangkok (gotta check that)
anyways, let's see if all goes well with this trip..I still may come over during our Holy Week here...after all I've not bought any ticket yet for that week-long holiday..and I will coordinate with you (apologies for this short notice as this was just really out of the blue :-)...like most of my trips which push through)
ayun pala..Pagudpud..isip ako ng isip ano ba yung beach for that movie with Richard and Dawn...tsk...
ReplyDeletenaghahanap pa ako ng mga makakasama kc para the more, the many-er...hehehe...
that Sagada thing has really been on my list for a looooong...looong..time...
Roger, if I plan a trip ...it usually doesn't push through...hahaha..that I've noticed...
ReplyDeletethose spur of the moment trips have a way of working out...
I'm trying to see if two of my friends who used to be in KL before are still there..but definitely am going to visit KL too this year or next at the most...I've been to Malaysia before, but not KL..so the incentive this time is to see you guys in your natural environment...hahaha!
hmm..how about roundabout way po?
ReplyDeletelike punta muna kayo dito sa Manila..hehehe...I think Cebu Pacific from Osaka would be cheap...sama na rin visit kina Sir B di ba?
tapos kuha po kayo ng flight from Manila to Bangkok...
yung sa Ceb Pac yata ay Airbus naman so not that bad...
teka..Che...anong say mo?
ok ba yung mga CP flights from MNL/OSAKA and back?
I have to confirm this part with her...
Hi Cat,
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your trip. I've never been to Bangkok (except for the airport) so I don't know much about the city, but with so many One ASEAN group members there I am sure you'll have a great time!
Take care.
Thanks Ted!
ReplyDeleteam sporadically reading my guide book to Thailand between emails and work ..:-)
Sherry isn't there at that time though...*sad, puppy-dog eyes*
Hey, Cat. Did you know here's a thing/experience called "a night in Bangkok?" You can tell us about it later.
ReplyDeleteactually I was singing in the shower earlier..."one night in Bangkok and the tough guys tumble..."
ReplyDeleteeto pala ang lyrics for that part -
One night in Bangkok makes a hard man humble
Not much between despair and ecstasy
One night in Bangkok and the tough guys tumble
Can't be too careful with your company
I can feel the devil walking next to me
oy, oy..I hope nobody gets mad or offended with my posting of this song and some of its lyrics..its very danceable...
even if we couldn't get to meet during your visit here but i'm sure i could give you some advice on the places you wanna see.. so, ask away! :)
ReplyDeletei wish you would be able to come back here again soon so we could arrange some meeting and we all could go pig out together :)
ok, get ready, get set...you did say ask ..hehhehe..thanks Sherry!
ReplyDelete1. what are the top 5 places which are a must-see? if one were to visit Bangkok only once in one's entire lifetime, where would they go?
2. what are the top 3 or 5 dishes/viands/food to taste while in Bangkok?
3. what would be the best souvenirs (aside from pictures) to bring back to one's homeland from a visit to Bangkok?
for starters *wink*
hey, for that alone, I shall return! (just like MacArthur said hehehe)..
ReplyDeleteimagine, I'm saying I shall return, I haven't even arrived there yet...LOL!
top 5 places in BKK and places nearby
ReplyDelete1. Grand Palace, Wat Phrakaew & Wat Po (reclining buddha)
2. Pratunam/MBK mall/Siam Square - heavens for all the shoppers!
3. make a day trip to Ayutthaya, its only an hour and a half from BKK. Go see all the beautiful temples and ruins
4. make a half day trip to Ratchadumnoen Floating Market - considered quite crowded, or you may go to Amphawa Floating Market - less crowded
5. Ancient City (aka Muang Boran), since you got so little time, you may wanna see a bit of everything Thailand could offer :) its only an hour or less from BKK
6. make a day trip to Pattaya and visit Sanctuary of Truth .. whoops.. now its more than 5 places .. i better stop here or i could go on and on and on :P
1. Authentic Tom Yum Kung
ReplyDelete2. Kor Muu Yang (Grill pork neck)
3. Curried Crabs at Somboon Chinese Seafood restaurant
4. Kao Niao Ma Muang (sticky rice & mangoes)
5. Thai Iced Tea :P
Thai silks, Thai boxing shorts, or you can grab anything related to elephants. and the best place to find all these souvenirs is Suanlum Night Bazaar! it opens from 6 pm til midnight.. shop away!!!
ReplyDeletewahahahaha.. you will fall in love with the city just now bunny does! and keep coming back for mooooore~! :P
ReplyDeletehi Sherry...wow..*dazed look*
ReplyDeleteI wonder if I can cram all that into 3 days...waaah!
yehey *claps hands*
ReplyDeleteI shall definitely write this down and check it out....finally can get the authentic stuff!
Thai silks do sound nice...as for the elephants..it would be great to bring a statue of one, but I don't think I can do it..hehehe...
ReplyDeletewell, if the fares are always so cheap, I will have more reasons to keep on coming back *grin*
ReplyDeleteif you have 3 days to spend in the city of angels..
ReplyDeleteDay 1
half day city tour which mostly includes Grand Palace, Wat Phrakaeo (the Emerald buddha), Wat Po (Reclining Buddha) and some areas nearby..
then spend the other half on Khao Sarn road..cuz its not far from those touristy places.. then in the evening, check out the cultural show at Siam Niramit. You can buy a tic which includes dinner buffet there too.. at Siam Niramit, before the show, there are some thai traditional houses from 4 different parts of the country showing there.. as well as they are also demonstrating how to do the craft thingie there too.. http://www.siamniramit.com or try the Chaopraya River Cruise.. you'll get to see Chaopraya River at night while having fine dinner on the cruise..
Day 2
Full day trip at Pattaya.. Places you can't miss - Sanctuary of Truth (http://www.sanctuaryoftruth.com), Nongnooch Tropical Garden (http://www.nongnoochtropicalgarden.com/th/index.php), you can have very yummy seafood there with the hot and spicy dipping sauce.. i can gaurantee you that you'll love it even if its gonna be a bit too spicy! check out for more info at http://www.pattayacity.com
Day 3
Have a traditonal thai massage, go visit some shopping malls like Siam Paragon, Central World Plaza, Siam Discovery, Siam Square and MBK.. you can just go to all those shopping malls as they are all soo near.. try out food at MBK Food hall or at Siam Paragon hall.. plenty of food there.. yummm!! and also stop by at Pratunam to buy some clothes back home.. super cheap! don't forget to stop by at Suanlum Night Bazaar to grab some souvenirs too.. :)
Back in 1981, nag punta kami sa Baguio, then sa Banaue Rice terraces. On the way back, plano naming dumaan sa Sagada. Naligaw kami and we ended up by Ambuklao Dam. It was scary because the driver and I saw this big rock that fell on the road after we passed it and it was meant to block our van by the NPA but we didn't tell anyone in the van about it until we reached Baguio. Kundi baka mag panic silang lahat.
ReplyDeleteSama ako sa inyo pa Pagudpod..he he he
How about Chiang Mai? I heard it is a nice place too.
ReplyDeleteif you have time like at least 2-3 days, i'd recommend you to fly to Chiangmai too.. you'll get to see so many beautiful temples and all.. and it has a slower pace than in BKK.. people are nice and sweet.. weather would be just perfect if you visit during Oct - Feb..
ReplyDeleteGee, thanks Sherrypie for the tip. I will keep that in mind when we plan to go there.
ReplyDeleteAloha,
Joey
you're welcome :)
ReplyDeleteIt's Damnernsaduak Floating Market, Sherry. *wink wink*
ReplyDeleteAre you coming alone, Cat? Where will you stay?
ReplyDeleteok, the next question would be..how to get to those places?
ReplyDeletetaxi? bus? train? walk? skateboard? hehehhe...
my gulay, di ko akalain ganon pala don!
ReplyDeleteat least adventure and safe pa rin kayo..
ok, come on over this year! :-)
ReplyDeletehello P'Mod!
ReplyDeletewell, I was planning to see if I could crash with friends of friends in the company I work for, I heard they would be staying at Somerset Hotel since they have a trip to BKK that time..
otherwise, I may have to look for other accommodations..and since I'm the type to look for hotels or inns which are for sleeping and keeping my things only, nothing fancy, I may have to ask around.. or just take my chances when I get there *grin*
do you think we can meet up while I am there? Sherry won't be around *sniffles*
in 2nd trip to BKK! LOL!
ReplyDeletebut I heard that people in Bangkok are also nice and sweet ...*grin*
ReplyDeleteyou can use public transportation like those sky trains and underground like BTS and MRT. or you can hop in a cap and go around the place too!!
ReplyDeleteskateboard would be interesting.. i wanna see you doing that.. please take lots of pix :P
oh, pumpkin!!! :P okay fine.. its Damnoensaduak ..hahahahahaha!!!
ReplyDelete*grins evilishly* :P
ReplyDelete*backtracks hurriedly back* uh-oh.....*wink*
ReplyDeleteHahahaha.....go to Kaosan Road then. Plenty cheap guesthouses and near most places Sherry recommended.
ReplyDeleteI'm free on March 7. Please let me know your schedule when everything is settle. ;)))
Sige. I will try.
ReplyDeleteThat actually happened around 1981. Wala na siguro ngayong NPA doon. Ngayon, masaya na ang adventure sa Sagada.
ReplyDeleteokeydoki...
ReplyDeleteI will be sure to PM you my cell number or where I will be staying or ask you for your number so I can at see you when I visit :-)
thanks!
Uwaw, my dear... have a safe flight and ENJOY BKK!
ReplyDelete*sigh* I am sure this trip would have been more fun if nakasama ko kayo ni Ludette...at nagkagroupo don, imagine laking eye-ball-lan...:-)
ReplyDeleteEh ikaw naman kasi.. pupunta din naman pala, di pa sumabay.. :P next time sama na tayo, ha?
ReplyDelete*sobs* kc I can only be on vacation leave when its forced ...huhuhu!
ReplyDeletehello P'Mod!
ReplyDeleteI just received email yesterday that a group of us were to join a tour of Ayutthaya and Damnoen Floating Market on March 7 :-(
I didn't expect this and thought of going off on my own there by Sunday...
Since I don't usually post my cellphone publicly and am not sure of bringing a laptop...Al has my cell number :-) if in case you have time outside of March 7 hehehe...I can receive text ...and if we go about it the roundabout way, if you are online on Multiply while she is online and I am not, she can always text me from Philippines on how to contact you in Bangkok..hahaha!
anyway, am including below the hotel too where we were to be with other HP peeps...am not sure what room though..
where we are supposed to be bunking:
