Fullmetal Alchemist, known in Japan as Hagane no Renkinjutsushi (鋼の錬金術師 or literally "Alchemist of Steel"), is an ongoing (as of this writing) Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa.
From Animax Asia:
Animax viewers will also be among the first in the world outside Japan to enjoy the highly anticipated Fullmetal Alchemist 2 when it debuts 10 April 2009 across Asia on Animax, within just 6 days of the series' debut in Japan.
Airing Saturdays, 8pm (SEA/PH/HK/SA), Fullmetal Alchemist 2 will be the third on-screen rendition of the Fullmetal Alchemist franchise, following the first hit anime series Fullmetal Alchemist and blockbuster movie sequel Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa, both spun off from the best-selling manga of the same title by Hiromu Arakawa.
Set in a fictional world where alchemy is the prevailing science, Fullmetal Alchemist 2 sees Elric brothers Edward and Alphonse continue their perilous journey to find the legendary Philosopher’s Stone. They are seeking the magical artifact to restore their bodies after a failed alchemy experiment to revive their mother cost Edward’s leg left and arm, as well as Alphonse’s entire body, leaving his soul affixed to a suit of armour. What lies in store for the brothers in this brand new anime series, tune in to Animax to find out!
*btw, as of this writing, am not sure what date this will stop airing so please disregard end date below; will correct it later
darn, I don't have Animax in Cebu ;-(
ReplyDeletehowever, I am gratified to be seeing the brothers again...this is the only anime series so far I've seen that I didn't mind seeing and hearing in English (I usually go for English-subs when I watch anime)...

ReplyDeletewho can please, please tell me what the first episode was?
ReplyDeleteI was lucky to have been able to catch the 2nd episode tonight..but no idea of the 1st ep at all..*sobs*
I love this series, the moral lesson I remember here is - equivalent exchange...
ReplyDeletefor those who came in late in viewing this, don't despair, there are replays on weekends...it definitely helps if you've seen the first season, but the way its depicted here, you will have no problem in catching up with the story...
ReplyDeleteat last, tonight was the final episode of FMA Brotherhood.
ReplyDeletethe last 3 eps made me so happy with the confrontation scenes...and made me also cry - the relationship of the brothers..as well as their ties to the other people...so heartwarming *sobs into hanky*
I liked this more than the first series...but maybe because it was truer to the manga...
the last sentences uttered by the Fullmetal Alchemist are so true and should be a lesson to us too...*sobs again into hanky*
waaah...I wish I could read the manga..
