  1. Thank you Cat. Yes, very useful. You can add " http://grace.hyperdia.com/cgi " where you can look up Shinkansen and other rail timetables in many languages and " http://asia.hotels.com/ " a very good site for hotel bookings.
    Have a nice day. John.

  3. Thanks John...this first link, I remember I had used this before when I was trying to estimate my Nagasaki to Osaka first long train JR ride...and the second is quite useful too!

oh dear, I was planning to go thru my Japan books and check out the sites, but with stuff like these from you guys, I am sure I have less to do :-)

  4. You're welcome my friend, after all I've become quite an expert on travelling in Japan.
One more here " http://www.choice-hotels.jp " covers most of the hotels in the Comfort Inn chain. Very good clean cheap and friendly hotels.

  12. hehe..I had already posted about my Japan trip before ...so this was just extra gravy..

actually I found Osaka the user-friendliest when it came to finding one's way...I managed to end up unscathed in my chosen hotel which was a bit far off..and a long way off from the station itself (nahilo ako sa daming exits and entrances sa Tokyo station huhu!)

  15. ooh..I haven't heard of Ako City...but I like your style of going around these other places in Japan...

lately in Japan Hour at Channel News Asia, I was entertained by Japanese going to different places in Japan which featured a country as a specialty..Mongolia, Arabia etc.

  16. Ako city is in Hyogo prefecture not far from Himeji.
Thanks, yes being lucky enough to have friends all over Japan gives me good reason to go where others probably never do or even think of.
This october I'll start off in Tochigi in the northern part of Honshu, which is the agricultural area basically.

  17. hmm....I think you've been to Himeji and talking about it in the last trip..or I saw a castle somewhere...

I was praying I could try for those less touristy spots...though maybe I should try brushing up on my conversational Japanese first...hehe...otherwise I might never get to where I am going...

*hmm..motivation to learn and get certified*
