  6. hahaha! its like this Kuya Nel...

when I am in Cebu, I ask our helper to go buy coconuts for me coz I want to drink buko juice. Its quite expensive in Manila..whereas here in Cebu, you can haggle for Php 10 to 20 per coconut.

So she went out and bought...then yesterday, just as I was anticipating drinking some fresh buko juice straight from the "butong" (thats how we call the young coconut here), she opened the coconut and found out it had no flesh at all..just water...

so my mom called out to me from the kitchen that we had a "buang" (literally "crazy") and I came running thinking there was a crazy person inside our compound...LOL

btw, I saw the coconut, its inner surface wasn't smooth and seemed to be "bubbled"

I tried the coconut juice of the crazy coconut...and it was bleah!

  7. there's also another funny term for another type of coconut here - "guilakangan sa buwan" ...literally translated "the moon walked over it"

and this refers to coconut which has flesh on 1/2 of it...i.e. one half is crazy (no flesh), the other half has flesh....turns out the juice of this is quite sweet...
