Have you ever seen "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover?" At one point the chef is discussing the preparation of food and says that he always charged the most for black food, because it is like eating death.

if one is to eat death, why should one be charged highly for it? shouldn't one charge instead for one's daring to eat it from the resto or establishment offering it?
I was so hungry, I only thought about it when I was mid-way...since my breaded fish was covered in my cajun spice and I deep fried it..it was also quite black...not the deep brown ones which I think I was expecting :-) para syang burned fish..hahaha...

Blueberry pie is closest thing to black that I can think of, as far as sweet desserts go.
Or licorice sticks.
