I finally got the other couple of pictures from May's camera last night.
I know I posted earlier in this site some photos of when I went around
Kentucky during my Cincinnati visit last May 2007, but this day was
extra-special since I got to spend it with May Morales-Gayheart on her
birthday. Dave was patient and kind enough to spend some of his time at
Turfway Park doing horse-betting..while May and I had lunch, visited the
Newport Aquarium and did girly-stuff :-)
May is a Computer Management student in CIT, first batch..and I was in the Info and Comp Science, also a pioneering batch. I think it has already been a decade since I last saw her..and that was in Cebu, when she and her hubby Dave came for a Christmas visit. I have to hunt for a picture of our CLAIMERS group of girls...we danced during our ringhop and although I have lost touch of some of them, I know that when we do come face to face in the future, it will be like my encounter with May (Mayang as I and Erwin sometimes call her) - as if it was just yesterday that we saw each other and in no time at all we fall comfortably into a talka-thon.
CLAIMERS was a group some of us formed during our last year in school...each letter stood for one of our names..my mom came up with the acroynm after we re-arranged and dreamed of unique group names without much success.
Hmm..maybe people who know my classmates will come across this bunch of albums and help me connect up with them.
C - for me
L - for Liza Tomas (no contact, no news)
A - for Fe Amor Heruela (we call her Amor, not Fe and she is currently in Australia with her 2(?) kids)
I - for Imelda Pareja (last update was that she was off to join her hubby in the US with her 2 kids but no confirmation)
M - May Morales (thanks to the internet and Erwin, we got to see each other)
E - Evangeline Delago (we do YM, so I see her handsome sons once in a while on the webcam)
R - Rosemarie Alfeche (I became godmother - even if I was in Manila at that time - to her one and only child ...for now, baka later 1 dozen na)
S - Sunshine (she is really Cara Mia if I remember correctly, but Sunshine was her nickname, also no news)
Coming back to the subject on hand -
Of course, there are some differences...May is medyo slang na nowadays..hehehe...She has incorporated into her speech some phrases which you would expect from an American...but...she can still come out with the occasional Bisaya word..hehehe...

well, these aren't the dangerous sharks...these are the tame ones (would you believe it?)
actually, I did try...ok naman...these were the smaller ones..and certainly there were no baby great whites...so my fingers were all intact by the time I pulled them out of the cold, cold water.....brrrr...

Cincy is nice naman..pero after being in Manila and being used to people on the streets after 7 pm...parang na culture shock ako when I came here and at seeing that as early as 7 pm...the streets are almost deserted..

Masarap ang eel, at least yung kinakain ko sa Japanese restaurants na unagi roll and unagi sushi. Dip mo sa sawsawan na toyo at wasabi, sarap, para kang na-shiatsu massage.
About cholesterol ng eel, when it comes to sea food I don't worry much about cholesterol kasi good cholesterol yon at saka yung oil good din sa body, omega 3. The Japanese have the longest life expectancy and that can be attributed to their diet and lifestyle.

it's the same here, only this year that some supermarkets have got new opening and closing time, and one nearest to us is open til 10 pm.
Kasi, halos walang limit ang opening ng stores sa Phils or Manila..
One thing causing Manila so alive and causing a lot of traffic is of course the population. Manila is so dense, kasi center siya lahat ng offices and big companies and job opportunites. Cebu is just the same. We have several here in Germany: Berlin,Hamburg, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Köln and some more big cities, which I could compare to Manila, but suburbs do offer possibilities of good job, kaya hindi jampacked ang mga tao doon..

true Nonz..parang sardinas kami dito..I guess its one reason I don't mind living and working here by myself..kc how can you get lonely e sa daming tao around you when you walk, ride the jeepney or the train, di ba?
if napunta pa ako sa lugar na walang tao..baka homesick na ako..hehehe...
mas gusto ko sa Hong Kong for the stores..kc usually 10 pm open pa..dito rin..sarado din naman ang mga stores usually 8 pm..pero kc malapit ako Greenbelt kaya usually makahabol pa ako sa resto by 9:30 pm....
I would like to visit Germany one of these days...and see yung historic na places..Berlin Wall would be one must-stopover..hay naku..pero Asia muna unahin ko....medyo kaya pa kaysa malayong lugar...ang gusto ko talgang unahin is Italy, Greece and then country ni Dracula..hehehe

reading this over...because I felt sad and nostalgic...
out of the CLAIMERS I mentioned above, we just lost Rosemarie to breast cancer the other day. She didn't tell us...and the last time I saw her was her son's birthday/Three Kings celebration in her house in Cebu last 2008.

last long hair ko was 2004-2005...nasa AIM ako and I must say, all that staying inside the dormitory and classrooms just to sleep, eat, read...ang ganda ng hair ko that time...nowadays, its better to keep it short coz I can't take care of it..
