A lovely, gently steamed, female crab with heaps of Alavar's sauce was my spur of the moment dinner in Cebu City....mmmmmmm....

  1. When I had trips to Zamboanga before, I ensured a visit on each trip to this restaurant....here in Cebu, I'm happy to have noted that I've visited all of their 3 restos (the original one was on Archbishop Reyes, then they moved to Gorordo St...then this now is in Lahug, near the IT Park)

  2. Sarap yan! I love crabs. When steamed I prefer vinegar for my dipping sauce. Dungeness and Rock crabs abound in Vancouver waters. Unfortunately there's a limit of 4 crabs per person per day and the size should not be less than 6.5 inches across the shell. You'll see many Pinoys, Chinese, and Vietnamese crabbers on the fishing piers in Vancouver's Jericho beach, West Vancouver's Ambleside park, North Vancouver's Deep Cove and Cates parks, and Coquitlam's Belcarra park..

  3. oops..I almost missed this...will post pics later of that dinner BNK :-)

ako rin, I usually prefer vinegar..but Alavar's sauce is really delish..I can put heaps of it on my rice and eat it as is...(pero dahan-dahan lang coz the "gata" may make some people visit the loo more often if they eat too much of a good thing)...

its admirable there...dapat nga naman talaga that crabs, even though ang sarap nila...should be protected..we don't want them to be on the endangered species list din dahil sa kakakain natin...

  8. if you like we can visit Alavar's while you are here in Cebu...actually what really happened was that I used you as an excuse to my parents who were with me at the time I picked up the car from the service center, and we checked out some places I could bring you too...

my dad was surprised I suddenly veered towards Alavar's, saying "abah, baka Sir B would like to eat here..." (hehhee...pero ako talaga yon)
