Puerto Princesa, Palawan Trip

Thanks to Keen's sudden phone call about Cebu Pacific 50% promo airfares....after deciding on a Mindoro trip, we were snagged by the idea of a trip to Palawan...literally another spur of the moment decision! This is where you see travel-mad people buy tickets and just plan later...*grin*


The City of Puerto Princesa (Filipino: Lungsod ng Puerto Princesa), the capital of Palawan, is a first class city in the Philippines.It is famous for its crocodile farms, underground rivers and dive spots.

It is also the second largest city in the Philippines (after Davao) in terms of total land area.

The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, features a spectacular limestone karst landscape with its underground river.

A distinguishing feature of the river is that it flows directly into the sea, and the lower portion of the river is subject to tidal influences. The area also represents a significant habitat for biodiversity conservation. The site contains a full mountain to the sea ecosystem and protects forests, which are among the most significant in Asia.

    come on over..50% off ang Ceb Pac :-) its approximately mga Php 1700 round trip fare.

    and am now going to sleep..been up for almost 24 hours...zzzz..just finished buying the ticket after much hassles from the website of the airline and the credit card....

    Where do you plan to stay in Palawan? May kaibigan ako sa Puerto. He runs a resort there. I think the name of the place is Marina de Bay (see http://www.marinadebay-palawan.com/).

    Well...I admit...I don't have time *sheepish grin*

    ...and at this point, it may be even that I bring my laptop while on the trip :-) but that is a last resort. We are making time to visit all these places coz sayang ang opportunity!

    Actually if the Philippines had just available free wifi all over the country...we'd probably be taking trips every month as we are not tied down to the office for the kind of tasks we do.

    Keen is quite good with the backpacker type of trick..so I will just be "sitting pretty" (ang sarap not to plan something but just go with the flow)

    photographers haven daw ang puerto. tagal ko ng balak pumasyal pero palaging nauusyame. maybe soon. kailangan makahanap ng matrona hehehe!!!

    Ang taaagggaaaallllll ko nang gusto mag visit sa Palawan..

    but even years go, we already had heard that going out of the country was actually cheaper than going to Palawan itself...

    this might not be enough though...I've not been to El Nido (northern part of Palawan) which is quite famous ....so dapat plan din :-)

    Thanks BNK...ayon, pinabayaan ko sina Keen and Jack to find san to stay and where to go ..hahaha...taga-egg on lang ako na punta tayo, punta tayo...at bili tayo cheap ticket..after that...antay na lang...hahaha!

    nag-de-debate pa kami if we also ought to include El Nido instead of just Puerto Princesa and Sabang..I think kulang oras...I heard 6 hours ride by van from PP to El Nido..hmm..maybe next time...

    I remember Jacques Cousteau's visit to Palawan many years ago that was featured in a National Geographic TV documentary. Palawan wasn't yet developed as a tourist destination then. Cousteau was very much impressed with Palawan, its sealife, and its natural beauty. I hope someday I can come to enjoy it too..

    nakup...anong date? sana di conflict with my Puerto trip...

    ..edited this comment...funnily enough...5 minutes ago I received a text from my Thailand travel companions if I was ok to go with them for a Sagada trip this Holy Week...waaaah...

    e di ba Mommy Loy said open invite nya to go to Bantayan this Holy Week...its an experience which is surely going to be fun and unusual...

    Sir B, how about taking up Mommy Loy's invite...the northern part of Cebu is also interesting..and a visit to Bantayan island is something to tickle your camera's lenses...

    I enjoyed this trip a lot because we were able to do a lot of things and visit places.
    What I didn't try though was the Pambato reef snorkel part..coz I couldn't find my eye googles...but sea, sand, subterranean river, cute waterfalls, and hot springs? My rock-walking pa...All check!

    I even get to tickle a croc...if only they wouldn't grow so big, I'd like to have one as a pet :-)
