Sleeping While The World's Awake

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8j-3BPzrzw
I wanted to blog about this as I felt the title of the song had very personal meaning for me.

However, *sigh* I am unsuccessful in embedding the video in my blog's body..so I might as well do it this way...and ruthlessly also cut out any mental ramblings I might have about the subject.

Sleeping while the world's awake is something I am always trying to avoid. Like typical Aries folks I'm afraid of sleeping for fear of missing marvelous life-altering things passing me by.

The link above shows the official video to the M.E. (Miguel Escueta) song.

  2. who has the lyrics? I can't find 'em...

  3. Nice one Cat but I don't know it. By the way I find it best to add the URL in the "LINKS" part of the page then there is a description box into which you can add a written blog or even the Lyrics if you have them at hand. The are several Websites where lyrics can be found,
    ( http://www.allthelyrics.com - http://lyrics.astraweb.com - http://www.songmeanings.net ) are 3 I've used, there are really many to be found.

  4. Sleeping While The World's Awake--yan ba ay dahil sa work sked natin?

  5. partly *wry grin*

though my first thought really was more of the world passing me by....with my "sleeping" being not of the physical sleep of the body but of a state of being...ehehe...di yata ako bagay sa deep stuff ah...

  6. thanks John, I will try these sites to look 'em up...I found lyrics of his other songs..but not this one...I don't know if it was because I gave up after page 2 of my search results..hahaha....

am actually quite happy and proud to note this Filipino singer and his band, I admit *blush* I thought it was a song done by a foreign act the first time I heard it last year...

  7. When I want a specific song I write "Music, Lyrics, Song name and artist" in my google search. If the song lyrics are online I'm normally lucky though often can't be downloaded due to copywrite, sometimes they can be baught with music.

  9. Here's my transcription, Kitty. Hope it's close to accurate.

    sleeping while the world's awake

staring in a dream that only i can see
    looking for a place (<---?)
even though they think you're lost
    it will be there
    no matter what they say
    no matter what they do
    look into your soul
and you will know that it will be there
    it will be there

    sleeping while the world's awake
    sleeping while the world's awake
dreaming while the world is saying
wake up wake up wake up wake up

could this come undone just like everybody says
must i leave this place to find the strength
    to let you go
    can't let you go
    won't let you go

    sleeping while the world's awake
    sleeping while the world's awake
dreaming while the world is saying
wake up wake up wake up wake up

    this may not be sure
but this is all i know
    holding on to faith
as i pray that it will be there
    it will be there
    it will be there
    it will be there
    it will be there

    sleeping while the world's awake
    sleeping while the world's awake
    sleeping while the world's awake
dreaming while the world is saying
wake up wake up wake up wake up

    Wake uppppppppppp, Cat!!!!!!!!!!

  11. John, I tried it right away but I still didn't find the lyrics...then I went to ME's site..and I didn't find any lyrics....

    ReplyDelete
  12. now thats an idea...I usually just add "Lyrics" to the artist's name or the song's title...

  13. MOMMY PEACHY!

thank you, thank you, thank you...awake na po ako...and I loved your transcribing it...I don't have to crawl thru sites...hahaha..bat di ko naisipan nga naman na dinggin and i-transcribe? hay...no talent..baka ibang lyrics lalabas :-)

and yes, I've just sang the song using your lyrics now...100% match for me!

*hugs Mommy Peachy tightly na natusok na tuloy sa knitting needles ang pusa*

  14. thanks for listening Mommy Peachy...actually akala ko masyadong loud for you :-)

*my dad kc just told me how noisy my laptop was hahaha!*

  15. I see you have them now anyway so further seaching is not required, but yes,the best is to put as much, but in brief when doing it.

  16. and, in honor of your transcription..di kona to e-everyone..*wink*

  17. hi John...am just too impatient I guess...after searching 6 sites...I gave up and just asked who has the lyrics *grin*

    ReplyDelete
  18. Ooops............was it "for everyone"? Ayyyyy...thanks for changing it if it was. I must have been very sleepy when I responded. But...if you want to change it back, let's just delete this and whatever else I have written after you copy the lyrics. I'd rather that you be able to share with more people since it's such a good song.

    P.S.
Or..... repost the song and lyrics on another page "for everyone" and I'll try not to slip. (^_^)

  19. Hahaha...you'll be surprised at some of the music I listen to. It really just depends on my mood and the message of the song; oftentimes, I don't like loud music.

  20. Do you know that a lot of viruses come from the lyrics websites? So, be careful if you don't have a good anti-virus program. I've been warned about this before....did not heed....and I was sorry....not just once....stubborn me.

    ReplyDelete
  21. ay, no worries po..I'd rather retain your posts here as I do value your entries and shared thoughts...

I am sure my friends' friends (network kc to ngayon) can still share on their end (cut and paste is so useful hahaha!)...

when I first heard it, I didn't have any idea it was a song by one of our very own...and I felt it was very catchy...and not just in terms of its title and lyrics/subject

you're forgiven for the very useful slip *wink*

  22. hmm...ako, not much on heavy metal..though hard rock, alternative rock etc. etc. I tend to gravitate to...but not always...

sometimes I just even open the tv and set it to the MTV here in Philippines so that I can keep up with whatever is going around..or else I'd be hopeless at identifying songs..

  23. naku ha...may kasalanan pala si M.E sa akin.....di nya ako tinext para imbitahin pumunta dyan......mwahaha! sa VA pala kayo..hmm....

if one of these days he comes out with his official lyrics (or some avid fan), we can check...(tapos iba palang word..but hmm..I can't think of anything similar to "staring", "starring"...alangan steering at me? teka muna..from where ba si ME? bisaya pod?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Thanks, Cat.

By the way, taga Manila daw si M.E.
Kami ni Angie, taga VA (about 4 hours away from each other)...ako, right outside Wash. DC. So dalawa kaming puede mong bisitahin dito.

  25. cge, that will be another fun encounter to look forward to! *claps hands*

pero not during winter lang or else you may not be able to pry me away from the heater hehe! (I felt pretty cold just looking at ME's video while in Reston, VA...yiiiih!)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Can't blame you, Cat, although this was a record-breaking winter....we had more snow than I can ever remember...and the temperatures, esp. last week, were bitterly cold. They still are...and just today, my central heat on the two lower floors died on me. I'll wait till tomorrow to call someone to fix it. Luckily, I have a separate central unit for the topmost floor, I also have two fireplaces, and a couple of space heaters....otherwise, I would have to take refuge somewhere else. Makes me want to move back to the Philippines....pero, mainit naman....saan ba puedeng lumipat?

    ReplyDelete
  27. you mean in the Philippines or in another state there? ;-)

shempre biased ako, sabihin ko, in the Philippines, quality of life is good in the sense that you can enjoy yourself..though I dare say, you might miss the comforts of life in the US, where most of the time things work when you expect them to work..hehehe...

I think Tagaytay is nice, due to its weather and scenic views...relaxed pace of life.
If you want to retire in Palawan or Boracay and be a beach bum, can be din *grin*
Cebu of course grows on people who like city comforts but want a slower pace than Manila...the thing I really miss most about Cebu is how everything (beach, malls, mountains etc.) is just a drive away..and not even an 4 hour drive!)....

if in the US Mommy Peachy, wouldn't you like Hawaii? then I can visit you and Joey at the same time!

    ReplyDelete
  28. oops...Cebu is mainit, I warn you..unless you do get a house up high in the hills or mountains..I think its not too bad, but certainly not as cold sa Baguio...but I heard Baguio is not also as nice as it was before....hmm...a pity..

    ReplyDelete
  29. I heard the same thing....truly a pity.
Won't chat you up anymore for now...baka wala ka nang matapos na trabaho.
    TTYL, Cat. (^_^)

  31. Speaking of moving back to the Philippines. My wife sister, Gina, just retired as a operating room nurse in verrrry cold Michigan and has decided to move here to the Philippines. She came the other day with her dog who seems perplexed with the new environment, new faces, and new tongues. Anyway bago lumayo. My sister-in-law is staying with us here in Tagaytay. She has decided to stay here during cold months and move back to the USA during spring and summer where the hospital she used to work for has a standing offer for her to work anytime she wants and event by spruts. When autumn starts, she comes back to RP. Iwas super lamig.

  32. Sir B..di ba mainit sa Hawaii..if you will pardon my curiosity, why doesn't Gina move to a state in the US na medyo mas ok ang climate?

  33. Haven't got much sleep at all...zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. The heating unit that broke has to be replaced completely...............and a friend in that business told me that my contractor is trying to rip me off...........so........will write longer when I feel better..........and warmer. :( Hugs, Cat.

  34. My sister moved back to the Phil. from Texas a couple of years ago. She also took her dog with her. She lost almost everything to Ondoy, often gets too hot, but still prefers that to the cold here.
Be back when I've rested. Thanks for the input, Boboy.
