Mindoro Teaser: What island was this?

Thought you'd only see beautiful, fine sandy beaches in Boracay, Philippines?

How about if I told you there's an island near Mindoro wherein the sand is fine, has a hint of red, and doesn't even cloud when you step on it under the water?

You can find it on Ambulong Island.

Photos to follow later.

Soon.

Promise! :-)

  1. It looks nice there though I'm not a beach lover.

  3. unspoiled beaches are getting to be a rarity here even in my country of 7,107 islands.

I grew up with beaches all around, and I've become somewhat jaded.

But this trip made me realize I should not take the beaches in the Philippines for granted.

Boracay, rated one of the top 10 beaches in the world before (and I still hope until now) has not been well-managed.

  5. Strange, I grew up 50 miles from the nearest beach. During WWII all beaches were mined so out of bounds until much later. I first saw the sea and nearest beach in my teens.

  6. Hmm..I feel lucky then. I grew up the first nine years of my life on Mactan Island, where the sea was just 2 minutes walk away.

Of course, its pretty hot and humid all the time :-)

  7. I hope it keeps this pristine in the coming more years.
It deserves better for its beauty.

  8. one can only hope, pray, cross fingers, toes, eyes, legs...

look at Bora...a far cry from how it used to be remembered before when it was yet undiscovered...

then there's Caramoan...still pristine...but the beach sand here we saw in Mindoro was actually nicer than what I saw in Caramoan..
