Confirmed: Php 175 plus Php 60 for having the 36 shots film I have used be converted into digital and copied into a cd. This includes the processing of the negatives. I'm kind of content that I am back to using Daddy's Nikon F-70 and not buying a Nikon DSLR for now. My gawd, I shall be wearing cameras like necklaces and bracelets!

I trust you did not order prints, right?
ReplyDeleteI just did that a couple of weeks ago on a 36 exp film. Had it processed and made JPG files out of them for $4.00. About the same price with the conversion.
What was the file size of each photo that was put on the CD?
I think I will be doing this from now on, besides shooting digital.
ReplyDeletehi Joey,
ReplyDeleteactually, I was asking the photoshop below sa building namin...meron palang nag move on...
so exploratory pa, coz for one, I didn't have the film with me (yung first film kc baka di na yon pwede parang 2002 pa yata yon eh though inubos ko din, malay baka lomo photography labas..hahaha)
No, I have no plans to order prints..same price pa naman din yata as per piece if we do it the film way.
When I have it done by this shop or a Kodak shop sa mall, hayaan mo balitaan kita anong labas...di pa kc ubos yung 2nd film ko eh...gusto ko i-isa nalang..
Yeah, I think that is a good idea.
ReplyDeleteConsidering naman that its not that expensive, secondly may negatives ka and thirdly for me, I think I want the discipline of going into film again like I did before, di na trigger happy way ngayon (hmm...on second thought di rin maiwasan..parang mag-shift mode lang ako as I move from film to digital cams in my hand). Dami nga lang bitbit..hehe...
Yung sa akin, OK lumabas. I am pleased with the results in a way. Nice thing about this is that you can choose what you want printed. Also, shooting with old film cameras mean you don't have to deal with electronics. As long as you know how to expose it by just gaging it from the light source, you'll be OK. No worrying about running out of batteries. It is always ever ready.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!! Well, if you get the itch to become trigger happy, you have the ability to switch...he he he
ReplyDeleteNot bad ang price.
ReplyDeleteI guess, as long as 1-2 rolls only at a time, affordable yan.
ReplyDeletehehe..baka later if may suki ka na..pwede discount...
ReplyDeleteor I think, as one friend told me when I was saying balik na lang kaya ako sa film instead of buying an honest-to-goodness-DSLR..sabi nya e di bili daw ako negative scanner..na di ko naman alam how mucho...
i am in the process of buying a NIkon-Ftoo...looking around for the best deal..=)
ReplyDeleteam sure with a film cam, you can do more of your lovely wedding pictures....good luck sa buying and be prepared to google a lot of reviews...
honga, though I hope it can be so much cheaper in the future pa...imagine if I finish up 4 rolls of 36 shots..nakupo...
ReplyDeletenagtipid nga sa shots pagdating sa Nikon F-70 eh..hehehe...
There are pros and cons about digital photography and film photography too. There are lots of arguments and studies. But us mortals could make a comparative study of the cameras we have and the kind of images they produce. I read somewhere that film, with 100 rating, make the best portraits with subtleties of tones and color registering. At AIM we say: is depends.
ReplyDeletewhy not have the best of both worlds?
ReplyDeleteshoot with both film and digital...
but will there become a time that technology will advance far enough that what the film is able to do now will also be feasible with digital images?
With technology growing every three months (and faster), hindi mag tatagal dadating din yan. That is, if they will not come up with a totally new and different type na naman (which is also a possibility). Para sa akin, though I love and started with film (like most of us), medyo partial na ako ngayon sa digital. Just my opinion anyway.
ReplyDeleteThis digital versus film debate started long ago and is still raging till now. The thing about that is that we, the users, get the ultimate benefit of whatever improvement happens as a result of their pataasan ng ihi. Here's one site I found that may give a bit of info on this debate - http://tawbaware.com/film_digital.htm
Pahabol: One test daw kung ok yung resolution ng image is to blow it up to a very very large format. Yung mahinang resolution (film or digital man sya) will appear to be less sharper. Daw.
ReplyDeleteAre you looking for a Nikon F or Nikon F2? Either way, those 2 are great bodies.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I have a feeling that film would still stick around. It is just harder to find the 36 exposures from the regular stores, e.g. Longs or Walmart where they always went on sale but they only carry the 24 exp. I was told that in order to get the 36 exp films here, you have to go online to get them at a good price and buy in bulk or go to a real camera shop but the cost is really high. As the old saying goes, if you really need it then you have to pay the price to get it.
ReplyDeleteHi Tochie, I would have to agree with you that with digital, you can be a lot more flexible and you can have the ability to do a lot more with it and be aggressive. But the sheer pleasure of shooting with film is something that will not just go away specially if you have done it before like you, Boboy, me and many others. I have some friends here who are also getting back to shooting film again. I am just glad that I kept my old Nikon bodies and lenses. Incidentally, when I took my old F, I just realized that the film I shot in there 7 years ago is still inside so I have to use it up and see if the images are still OK. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteBtw, thanks for the link. Very informative. I bookmarked it already.
That is why I think it is best to shoot with a higher JPG file or RAW.
ReplyDeletebtw, Chelo, just FYI. If you are planning on getting the F or F2, both are full frame cameras. If you shoot weddings, that would be best for you.
ReplyDeleteshe does! shoot weddings I mean..her pics are really ethereal..naku, it almost makes me want to try a mock-wedding set para makapicture ng ganon ang labas....hahaha!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I thought. I want to see her photos. Does she have a link?
ReplyDeletengek! magastos pa...at least if mock-wedding, pwede ka mag-drama dyan, tapos after, ayon, walang hassles na *wink*
ReplyDeleteI think she posted something earlier...teka hanapin ko...di ko lang na check naman kc, only the first page
ReplyDeleteeto Joey, ang timing, kc nag post sya at kaka-ayos daw ng sis nya yung site nya..hehehe!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.ragenstevartphotography.com/
FYI pala ....sa Kodak developing center in Glorietta 3, its Php 200, thats for everything...
ReplyDeletehmm..what would this entail and how much would it cost if one wants to this instead of going to the developing center? Negative scanner lang ba? how much would that be? is there anything else kaya na dapat gawin?
Honga, Chito.
ReplyDeleteSali ka kaya sa Reality Shows like The Bachelor. Isa ka sa mga candidates na pipiliin. Dyan pwede ka sigurong mag drama. All expenses paid pa...he he he
ReplyDeleteThanks Cat.
How did you know her?
ReplyDeleteupdate:
ReplyDeletePhp 125 lang (kasama na pa develop sa negatives) don sa shop at Greenbelt 3, a stone's throw away from Powerbooks and opposite Body Shop :-)
I met her in person sa tea party ni Mommy Loy last January 2010 don sa bahay nila.
ReplyDeleteI think you may have visited the album I posted on it nga and you can see the other girls don.
Chelo is Cebuana din :-) and of course, contact din ni Pat..
inaykupo..
ReplyDeleteI may have had nga. But I am not really sure.
ReplyDeletethin line between being famous celebrity or notorious celebrity..hmmm
ReplyDeleteyes, you have...I remembered just now di ba nag comment about cucumber sandwiches si John (StormLizard) and ayon na silang dalawa ni Mommy Loy..hehehe

I checked the link, Cat. Dehins ko pa nga nabisita ito. Very nicely done. Ganda ng presentation ni Loy. Bonga talaga.
ReplyDeleteshempre, e si Mommy Loy mahilig ng all things (?) English...or British...hence this tea party was a slice of English afternoon in a hot Cebu setting..
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed, it was a very nice and lovely tea party which looked very cool.
ReplyDeleteam sure Mommy Loy will be happy to hear such sentiments from someone who wasn't there but could only look at the pics *grin*
ReplyDeletethanks Joey..
ano namang merienda dyan sa Hawaii ngayon?
Kape, pastillas de leche, Mary Grace ensaymada and Libby manapua (Siopao that is really really good). Saraaaap!!
