Bolonio, Batirol, Bow!

For those who asked me before about which was which -

What is shown in this picture at the far right, is what we use when we make our sikwate (hot native chocolate) - which we pair up with puto, bread, budbod, bingka, or whatever takes our fancy.

These are the newest ones we have in our kitchen arsenal because our older ones are now full of holes. These two were hastily bought from Tabo-an market here in Cebu as I wanted to sip my sikwate right away.

Bolonio - the stirrer/whisker (I think its also called batidor)
Batirol - the container

I kind of miss too the old, espiso tablea from the southern towns...

  2. hu..how could that be? it needs repairs?
I think it's not thick enough for hot fillings..well well so balik na lang sa metal talaga..otherwise your longing for sikwate mapupurnada..:)

  3. honga, kabibili lang ganon na...

yep, you are right...the bottom is not thick enough for the sikwate...at least yung pot naman (for our inun-unan) is good..but the clay bolonio needs to be returned gyod sa kanila..

gusto ko pa naman sana i-compare ang taste ng sikwate with 2 different containers to boil them in :-(

  4. do you know if you can get a Bolonio here? will bring it to Sagada & give them a try on making one from clay.

  5. I was going to bring the clay one to Manila to use...if I can get it replaced, I will bring one :-) I always expected there would be stuff like these available like in the Market-Market tiangge or other markets like the weekend markets, but I've not been successful in finding one.

What do other people use in Luzon?

  7. hmm...ok, I will bring the clay one, am sure the potters in Sagada can make a better one (in fairness, the clay one was just the cheaper type you can buy in wet markets here).

If I can visit some southern towns on Saturday before I leave, I will check out if they have some too...yay! thanks doc!

if you want na mapadala thru me Mommy Loy, my flight back to Manila is Sunday morning though..baka alanganin...

  14. Paging Doc Philip...

if I have enough space sa luggage ko this August, exchange tayo...can you give me a nice pottery of this which won't leak and crack if its used? ;)

actually people have been relying on the metal ones kc nga mas durable....
