Life is confusing enough without saying no...

A note of explanation for friends who don't speak Pilipino, "hindi"  = "no" or "not".

Conversation when going towards
"Hindi", a place in Bacacay, Bicol.

Passenger: Manong Drayber,  "Hindi" na po ba ito?

Driver: "Hindi" ito.

Passenger: Hindi ba?

Driver: Hindi nga.

Passenger (confused): Hindi na ba or hindi pa?

Driver: Oo, Hindi.

*after 5 minutes of similar conversation, passenger and driver scuffle and come to blows*

  1. In Engish, though its not half as funny when spoken in the vernacular.

Hindi in Pilipino = no or not in English.

Conversation when going towards "Not", a place in Bacacay, Bicol.

Passenger: Mr. Driver, is this not the place?

    Driver: It is not.

    Passenger: Ah...so it's not.

    Driver: It is.

Passenger (confused): Eh? Is it not or it is isn't?

    Driver: Yes, its Not.
