  2. Nabalitaan ko din ito via twitter. Pero all of the posts I read said, "sabi daw ng Pagasa." I tried to go to their website pero parang may problema. Di ma access. Wala din info about it sa NDCC nor is there any mention sa PDI or Philstar. Nothing also sa website ng typhoon2000.com. So, I'm not too sure about this. As a matter of fact, I posted something about it earlier, too. But in just a few minutes of surfing and not finding any news about it, I deleted that post. Pls check or verify uli Cat. This is sending jitters to many. Mukhang na trauma na ang mga tao. Konting ulan lang parang nagpa-panic na.

  3. Ok. I think you got from the site of Julius and Tintin Babao. Pero yun nga, wala akong makitang info from our weather bureau.

  5. Me too, I was watching Unang Hirit this morning and they were interviewing a represenative from pagasa and he did not mention anything about a typhoon coming He even said that we will probably be experiencing nice weather in 2 days. I was actually waiting for this news since I also read about Typhoon Pepeng last night thru Facebook. Well I just hope that this typhoon will not pass our country. Lets continue praying and proclaim psalms 91. Be safe everyone

  6. Hi Cat. I'm using typhoon2000.com (or maybagyo.com). This a weather forecasting site operated by a kakababyan (bicolano), Michael Padua based in Naga City. I have just gone thru it and found the potential weather disturbance that you were talking about.

I've been using this website since it's inception about 2-3 yrs ago pa. Great help for me in my former job. It provides better info, i.e. madaling maintidihan at nakaka-tulong talaga. Best of all, the visuals are very good.

Re 2 more storms, for sure meron pang ibang dadating na bagyo. The season is not over yet. Here are track images of the new yet unnamed tropical depression with international code 18W:
    - http://www.prh.noaa.gov/images/guam/errorTrack2.jpg

Looks like it's near Palau and Guam at the moment. Sana di na mabuo as bagyo and kung sakali, di na dumaan sa atin. Or kung dumaan man, sana mahina na, i.e. walang ulan or mahina ang hangin.

I-google earth mo na lang to have a sense of how far Palau is from the Phils. (Okay Google Earth says it's about 800 km east of the Philippines.)

  7. Cat, here's a GMA7 news report confirming your earlier note about two more possible storms:

    http://www.gmanews.tv/story/173302/pagasa-2-more-tropical-depressions-may-hit-rp-this-week

By the way, the two tropical depressions carry code names 18W and 19W.

  8. Thanks Angie, ako rin, wala akong ibang magawa except to pray na hwag muna po Panginoon...

  9. Steph, thanks...

Aside from weather being unpredictable, I really cannot be confident when somebody from the weather bureau here says its all going to be nice weather.

For now, dapat we should hope for the best and prepare for the worst...

  10. hi Chito,

I also looked up that site when I was googling the other day about Tropical Depression Pepeng but wala pang details kc at that time when I posted this.
Still, aside from Tin's site on the helpful tips, I just had this nagging idea that - omg, all we need now is another coming our way and we are not yet in the clear.

Thanks for the links above, I hope its ok with you if i-cross post ko sa FB.

I am hoping, praying, keeping my fingers crossed at kung ano-ano pa, that this won't develop into a full-blown storm at come our way. Kung mabuo man, sana naman don na sa gitna ng ocean lang ubusin nya tubig nya at hangin.

  11. quote.
"May dalawang tropical depression sa labas ng Philippine area of responsibility. Ine-expect natin na papasok sa bansa, papasok ito sa boundary by Wednesday hapon or Thursday (We see two tropical depressions outside the Philippine area of responsibility. We expect them to enter Philippine boundary by late Wednesday or Thursday)," Dadivas said.

  12. ok, its being show on the news...2 more tropical depressions baka nga mapunta dito sa Wed/Thursday...

let's keep a close look at it...

  13. Right now it is still categorized as a tropical depression (TD), and it's organizing somewhere between Palau and Guam near an island called Yap (part of Micronesia Federation). It is expected to develop into a tropical storm over Palau tomorrow and could intensify to Category 1 by Thursday near the Bicol peninsula. It may be a bit rainy here in Manila by then.

  17. Ondoy (Typhoon Ketsana) has started to wreak havoc in Vietnam - http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090929/ap_on_re_as/as_vietnam_typhoon and http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2009/09/29/typhoon-ketsana-vietnam-philippines-flood312.html

As of the report time, there have already been 23 casualties. It's worthy to note though that about 170,000 people "were evacuated" before the typhoon slammed into the country! How the heck were they able to that?

  18. Hi Cat. If you look at this image - http://agora.ex.nii.ac.jp/digital-typhoon/region/pacific/2/images/640x480/latest.jpg - you might see not one, not two but three storm cloud formations in the Pacific! Image taken at 9:00 AM today.

  19. pano nga ba yan ginawa?

e dito siguro even if sabihin pa natin na 48 hour notice sa ating mga opisyales, could they have moved that number of people out of the areas which might be affected? san kaya ilalagay....

    ReplyDelete
  20. honga eh...aside from Tropical Storm PARMA - PEPENG / 19W moves WSW (west-southwest) with a speed of 28km/h.... two other Tropical Depressions are following: 18W and a yet unnamed depression east of Guam.

I am still hopeful...di naman direct collision natin dito in the Phils...

  21. I've been following via CNN, developments of Typhoon Ketsana as it slams Vietnam. It has intensified into a storm and weather forecasters are saying that rains are being dumped since yesterday. And intensity could go higher. Looks like a nightmare scenario. But the video I'm seeing is that of military looking people (in their military raincoats), calmly piling up flotation devices, and almost empty but flooded streets. Nothing of the kind of chaos and confusion that we saw here in Manila streets. It seems that the government there in Vietnam are prepared, did prepare, and are calmly doing what they can. And the people, it seems, have heeded the government's warning. It may be too early to tell. But the impression I am getting is that the guys over there, even with a slightly lower number of average typhoons per year, are more ready to cope than us. What gives?

  22. intensified into typhoon na kahapon yung Ketsana e as it was on its way to Vietnam...

  23. maybe Chito, the people there in Vietnam saw what happened to us, kaya ayon...

  24. As far as I know, these Low Pressure Areas usually converge or merge, usually but not necessarily into one big storm. Sometimes, the force of one dissipates the other. And still sometimes one influences the direction of the other. Let's hope that if and when they merge, it becomes weak and veers away from our archipelago.

  25. Yes, maybe. Pero di mo hora-horada puede ilikas ang 170,000 na katao. And as you wondered, saan kaya dinala ang mga ito? And what about the logistics requirements, e.g. food, water, blankets, etc.? I don't think they prepared them only after seeing what happened to us.

  26. another question, yung plan nila dito sa Pinas for dealing with disasters, naka for public viewing ba to? or do they have one...
baka gusto nila may mag volunteer gumawa nyan..or baka puro drawing lang yan

  27. I think we should ask the candidate for President for 2010 who is also the current Secretary of National Defense (DND) and Chairman of the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC), these questions.

What did he expect from people who are between life and death to do with their celfons, listen to mp3s? Napaka-insensitive at tactless talaga!

    ReplyDelete
  30. mygolly, di ko nadinig yan kanina while I was listening to the tv...

insensitive? tactless? how about brainless...what the heck is the communication lines for?

ano ba to? pwede ba utang na loob lang, mag -take ng IQ exam tong mga officials na to before taking any position?

IQ exam, EQ exam, psychological exam at whatever battery of tests pa ...
