And the Earth's plates shifted again.
ReplyDeleteInitial Phivolcs report says 6.2 magnitude and felt mostly in western part of Metro Manila. If you are in a high rise building, the shaking is amplified.
ReplyDeleteUSGS says it's 6.1 and located at southwest of Manila.
ReplyDeleteThere's also a typhoon inside Phil area of responsibility (the very first of the year but is projected to move away in about 12-24 hours - http://www.typhoon2000.ph/activetrack.gif
ReplyDeleteLumindol din sa Tagaytay
ReplyDeleteeto na tlaga, weather shifts and earth shifts
ReplyDeleteyes, the people below (Admin office ground floor and guards) didn't feel anything...
ReplyDeletebut here at home, where I was testing the a/c (for a moment I thought kc maingay yung a/c ko baka nag vibrate ang walls ko hehehe), I could see my bamboo curtains and portraits swaying...ngeeh!
wow..and dinig ko sa security OIC namin, who passed by to check on me (if di pa ako hinimatay hehe!) said parang 4 lang...tsk..tsk
ReplyDeletehmm...eto kaya ang sinabi nila na si Agaton?
ReplyDeletehi Lito...how was it naman daw?
ReplyDeleteteka, san ang epicenter pala Chito? did I miss reading that?
just pray to GOD and always be ready for evacuation
ReplyDeleteDo not forget a bottled water and small flashlight on your handbag..
ReplyDeletedi ko alam kung mild o weak lang lindol dito pero nasa attic kami nun
ReplyDeleteYes, the storm's local code is Agaton. And the international code is T.S. Omais (http://www.typhoon2000.ph/)
ReplyDeleteHere's a more detailed report - http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/breakingnews/nation/view/20100325-260744/Strong-quake-shakes-Mindoro-Metro-Manila
ReplyDeleteHere's an excerpt: - "Intensity 5 was felt in Looc in Lubang and Manila; Intensity 4 in Quezon City, Mandaluyong, Makati, Pasay City, Talisay in Batangas, Taguig City, Pasig City; Intensity 3 in Bagac in Bataan, Canlubang in Laguna, Clark in Pampanga, Rosario and Trece Martires in Cavite, Marikina City, Tagaytay City and Olongapo City; and Intensity 2 in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro and Calamba, Laguna, said Janilla De Ocampo of the Phivolcs Seismology Division"
Yung unang basa ko, "...prepare for evaluation..." Puede rin.
ReplyDeletegood idea on the flashlight...since these earthquakes have been happening, I now actually sleep with these stuff near my bed, but di lang naka-bag..dapat yata I should have an earthquake or storm emergency kit..
ReplyDeletethanks Terry...
ReplyDeletee kung attic, di mataas yon..mas ma-feel nyo yata..
ReplyDeletesabagay di ko feel ang storm..it would almost be nice to welcome a storm in summer kc ang init na dito...
ReplyDeletepero remembering Ondoy, parang cge, papaypay na lang ako...
yung mga ganito di naman tsunami siguro ang labas di ba? masyadong maliit?
ReplyDeleteI just heard it in the news tonight. Hope all of you guys are OK. Buti na lang at walang Tsunami na na generate.
ReplyDeleteLOL!!
ReplyDeleteActually malayo sya sa Manila. And in just a few hours, it will swing northwards (out of PAR). Kaya dinatin mararamdaman ang epekto kahit dun sa northern Luzon. So, tuloy ang iniiiiiit!!!!
ReplyDeleteAccording to Phivolcs, no Tsunami is expected (wala naman daw kasi na-detect dun sa Tsunami warning facility nila near the area (Lubang Island).
ReplyDeleteWe're ok Joey. Thanks for the concern. More than 8 hrs and no report of any damage/injuries. Buti na lang. sabi kasi nila, this was just a few rungs lower than that in Chile which we all know was a big catastrophe.
ReplyDeletewe are good in my side of town. i was in a shop in vmall (3rd floor), when all of a sudden the glass cabinet where i was holding on to moved and some of the products on display fell...and all along i thought, nahihilo lang ako.
ReplyDeletethanks for the concern, joey!
thanks Joey...pasalamat kami di the same as yung sa Chile..
ReplyDeletekulimlim lang..pero yun nga..mainit..grrr
ReplyDeleteglad to know you are ok and safe...dito nagpanic yung ibang tao sa ibang building eh...
ReplyDeleteactually, its now drizzling a little bit here in Makati..yehey!
ReplyDeleteAlthough it was quite strong at 6.1, siguro sandali lang ang duration kaya walang reported damage. Buti naman.
ReplyDeleteAlthough the shaking is amplified, you're safe in a modern high-rise building. In fact safer than being on the street in downtown during an earthquake. Modern skyscrapers are designed to sway during an earthquake so that they don't break or snap. It is very unnerving to be on the 30th floor and you can see buildings around you moving (have personally experienced it). Hard to believe but it's safe. If you're on the street there's a very high risk of getting hit by falling debris like broken glass, pieces of concrete, bricks, etc.
ReplyDeleteThe most dangerous structures to be in during an earthquake are old brick buildings and old low-rise buildings made of concrete. In the event of an earthquake and there's no time to get out, DON"T hide under a table or a bed because you could get crushed if a heavy slab of concrete falls on the table or bed. The best thing to do is to make a triangle by propping tables, sofas against each other to create a triangular space, and then stay in the triangle. If something heavy falls on it, it slides ayaw from you instead of crushing you.
Triangle of life...thanks BNK!
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome, Meann. I am so glad that all of you are OK. Can just imagine how you felt at that time.
ReplyDeleteThis now reminds me of this Carol King song:
"I Feel The Earth Move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down"
You guys take care:-)
Thank Goodness everyone is fine, Chito. Hopefully, there would be no more after shocks.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
I can just imagine what would have happened if it was of the same intensity. Remember Ruby Tower in 1968?
ReplyDeleteGlad you guys are OK. Ingat!
did she mean earthquake or love? or sex? hehehe!
ReplyDeleteYes, I remember Ruby Towers. Pero yung lang yata ang na-grabe. Investigations revealed yata na hindi iron bars and ginamit kundi bamboo.
ReplyDeletelast time that i really felt shaken with earthquakes was way way way back in the 60's in Cebu, Ranudo area, luckily it only happens in seconds but cabinets and doors shaken and open, thats why earthquakes matters in seconds, love matters in long hours, while sexs matters in minutes...
ReplyDeleteworkshift pa lang na wiwindang na ako--eto dinagdagan pa!i was working when it happened.I was thinking--should i run outside or should i stay ?(coz still got a lot of traffic on radar screen).
ReplyDeletehehehe..buti yung nasa airplane e di nila ma-feel...
ReplyDeletenow that is a question, for such jobs as yours, ano ba dapat ang response? wala bang training dyan for emergency situations such as this or dapat yata at least medyo earthquake proof na building kayo naka house?
Yun ba ang na reveal sa investigations nila? I thought nadiskubre nila na ang cause daw ay poor or inferior building materials ang ginamit.
ReplyDeleteDid you know that at the UST campus, the Main Building is the only one that did not sustain any cracks? They found out in the blueprints that the Main Building which was built around 1927 is actually earthquake proof. Amazing! Here is the link from Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Building_(University_of_Santo_Tomas)
He he he... pag umalis ka, ma guilty conscience ka:-)
