interesting features at first glance:
ReplyDeleteGE has incorporated automatic scene detection.
Another nice tech update is the inclusion of a pan-capture panorama mode, which stitches together a series of three images taken automatically as the shooter pans across a scene. Although I prefer manual stitching on the camera itself coz thats what I am used to in my Kodak..so, let's see how it goes.
The story? so there I was, ready to buy Polaroid's cheaper cam...at SM when I passed by...
but in the end, waterproofing was the deciding factor..
in the meantime, paayos ko Kodak and Olympus ko...
for the Olympus U850SW which I have...I don't mind saying out loud that I was a bit disappointed with it. And its not just me, but 2 other folks I know who owned these also have problems in different areas of its use and material.
am currently saving up for Sony's DSC-TX5...to come out this March or April.
ReplyDeletewaterproof, shockproof, freezeproof, dustproof..
but maybe not Cat-proofed? ehemm....
on one hand maybe I should just wait for the 2nd generation models (and hope they get the bugs out from their first generation WP cams)...but my other alternative is Canon's expensive D10..which looks bulky (reminds me of a deep-sea diver in his wetsuit and headgear in the olden times).
news! I came across some models of Polaroid which would be great as graduation gifts for your young uns if you want to let them start early doing their picture taking
ReplyDeleteimagine mga 3K PHP lang..
wow cath, you really did your research about cams =) that polaroid one is interesting..might look at that too=)
ReplyDeletehi Chelo,
ReplyDeletewhich Polaroid cam would you be looking at?
the one which I said for young 'uns has double AA batteries (which is actually not a bad thing if you ask me, at least you can carry around extra ones if you travel instead of buying expensive Lithium ones or waiting to charge)..5MP yata if I remember correctly.
the other one which I initially wanted to buy prices around Php 7500 - Php 8K. It has a lot of features and has a touchscreen. I thought well, ma-try nga ang Polaroid coz I remember their type of cameras fondly before. Kaso di nga waterproof..hay!
Oh, and Polaroid also showcased a very cute printer :-) with cute (literally) printing paper..pwede maging sticker na..
talaga?! ilan ang pixels nito?
ReplyDeletecorrection..either 5 MP or 9 MP....sa daming models kc nakita ko on Friday..nahilo na yata ako..hehehe...
ReplyDeleteHow about being FOOD PROOF, Cat? Mahilig ka kasi sa pagkain:-)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your panoramic shots with your new GE cam.
I still kinda miss the panoramic shots of my Kodak, I kind of gotten used na to the squinting and trying to align the diff shapes on screen..
ReplyDeletethe main problem with these automatic shots of panoramic from GE is that I don't like how some of them are stitched...
I tried earlier in shooting some admittedly cluttered areas..hay nako...di nag-align...I think the Polaroid was better in that 3 frames stitching...
anyway, its not bad though for a new waterproof cam..and the battery seems to be doing quite well...unlike the other Olympus...grrrr..sakit talaga yata ng camera...
Then, bakit mo binili yan? Now you're stuck with it. Photoshop na lang ang solution mo:-)
ReplyDeleteno, the GE is ok so far
ReplyDeletewhat I am griping about is the Olympus waterproof before..this was the one I bought in Japan and wherein I had to look for batteries in NYC :-)
anyway, I've been to Kodak repair just now..hay! mahal ang labor, di ko pa alam anong parts palitan...but anyways, may trade in din..if the total repair is almost the same as the price of a new unit nila na pwede i-trade in, maybe I will trade it in..otherwise, I kind of have sentimental feelings for my Kodak point and shoot...its quite tough and has been with me through many many trips...
Oh, OK. I know it is really hard to part with cameras you have sentimental values with. Also, most of the time, it is cheaper to just buy a new one instead of repairing it.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know GE made cameras. I like the bulky Canon one as it is supposed to be super durable and can take underwater pics without a special extra casing.
ReplyDeletetrue, it does look durable and hefty :-)
ReplyDeletebut then most watercams nowadays are already designed to have no special extra casing...
reviews I read about it had one or two complaining about battery life, so I have not continued with getting it.
I myself was surprised about GE and camera-making..
it was like telling me Nissan made cameras..hahaha
