Abandoned in Batanes
While most of my companions were turned the other way, I kept on looking in this direction and was focused on the view which greeted me.
The set of buildings seemed lonely somehow - its open spaces between columns and walls like mournful gazes.
Was it a constructed building which was only halfway done?
Was it a school or some facility which was hit by a tsunami which hit SongSong?
Even though it was exposed to the wide, open seas - for long, blissful moments I abandoned myself to an imaginary scene of this site becoming a lush beach resort with discreet multi-colored cabanas strewn carelessly about - not difficult to fantasize on this sunny day with its bracing breeze coming from the sea.
I found out later that was an old American base, abandoned a long time ago...
Shot on June 26, 2010 with my GE G3WP. Panoramic setup.

You can make a love story of a lonely, young American from the deep of Kansas and a tough Ivatan woman, well-educated, English and Spanish speaking..
ReplyDeletevery nice pano...parang Hawaii ang mountains.
ReplyDeletelovely story Cat!
Waxing sentimental si Cat dito.
ReplyDeleteeh Sir B...parang nawalan ako ng gana of a love story when you said before na may movie na dito..yung may Taiwanese star ba at tsaka isang Pinay...but thinking it over, parang the ethereal beauty of Batanes should really be paired with a story of love....
ReplyDeleteor maybe something entirely on the other side of the galaxy...para mas shocking..hahaha!
ah....Hawaii..one of the last states in the US that I like to visit...its a good thing Batanes doesn't have volcanoes like Hawaii *takot sa bulkan*
ReplyDeleteiba ang scenery ng Batanes...it makes me want to sit down and just do that...with my mind a-whirling behind my relaxed posture...
ReplyDeletewe are all surrounded by sea and beaches kc nasa Pinas tayo...and even in Cebu medyo ho-hum na ako sa beaches...but being here is an entirely different atmosphere...
What about if we create a story where, Anakin Skywalker was actually born in Batanes and that Ob One Kenobi is actually from there and that the real base camp of the Jedis is located in the deeps of Balintang Channel?
ReplyDeletesana sinabihan mo si George Lucas ng maaga...
ReplyDeleteBakit si Lucas pa? Nadiyan naman si Hugo, hehehehe...
ReplyDeletehmm..and he has been saying he wants to do an indie film...malay...baka pwede tayo sama....hahaha!
ReplyDeleteYes, kahit volunteer lang. Clapper ako.
ReplyDeletePaulit ulit lang ang love stories Cat; it is in the telling that separates the corny from to the sublime ones.
ReplyDeletecge, bahala na ang love story..basta sama kami ni Tochie sa pelikula as support...(ehehehe..naging obvious iba ang priority di ang story)
