Batan, Batanes
Philippines
On the road to SongSong...we stopped.
We trampled the grass towards the place where water buffaloes hid from the sun's heat. I overheard (or maybe I was mistaken) thereabouts was where the supposed place where Richard broke up with Dawn in a movie entitled something like "I Shall Wait for You in Heaven" was filmed...
I grumbled to myself - of course he'd break up with her here...its bloody hot! That place was open to the elements.
A little ways down the road, I walked on..and saw a family going leisurely by the same road..seemingly towards infinity...
This was the road we would be passing by later on the way to SongSong which has a cluster of roofless shells of old stone houses abandoned after a tidal wave that hit the island of Batan in the 1950s.
Beautiful pictures Cat...i like the treatment...Panalo!
ReplyDeletethanks Doctor Philip...experimenting mode lang before going to sleep...hehe...
ReplyDeleteI really liked this stretch of road...although in fairness ang daming lovely views in Batanes, for me parang..I was anticipating going to Songsong and seeing the stretch of sea here, it made me imagine what if in the 1950s I was there and nakita ko ang dagat making a rolling wave towards the settlement...
one subject i like are streets & alleys...some create a lot of character & some images have a lot of drama like yours!....hidi yung sine ni Dawn at Richard ha! ha!
ReplyDeleteLOL...may character yung bayong-bayong where they broke up..ehem.....kaso lang di ko yata kinunan ng pic coz it looked quite small from where I was standing, I knew walang epek if I used my camera...
ReplyDeletei'm impressed you did your homework, you watched the movie before going to Batanes! clap clap clap, standing O (pa nga)...so you could relive the scenes! next time i will also relive the scenes....pag nakapunta ako sa Pyramids, magapatuka ako sa ahas!
ReplyDeleteoy, not true! nadinig ko lang when I was riding the jeepney...
ReplyDeletein all honesty, I had no idea may film dito except yung "Batanes" na nandon din yata yung Taiwanese na guy from Meteor Garden ba yon? I thought Richard and Dawn's movie was shot in that other beach in Luzon I've been hearing about but now whose name escapes my mind...
sabagay if Wuthering Heights come to mind, Batanes would be the perfect setting...
Doc, if you go to the Pyramids, please take me along with you...I plan to not only take the picture of you enacting that scene..but also plan out other scenarios like getting trapped in the Pyramid, getting trampled by a camel..getting sucked in quicksand..yung mga ganon...*grin*
ok...Pagudpud pala ang beach na akala ko don nag shooting ng movie..
