Does this mean you'll be flying home for that....on a Monday and Tuesday? If so, I'll be looking forward to photos and stories.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised the fiesta is held on weekdays.
nice old church...i prefer to see churches, rustic like this, instead of freshly painted walls...but i know some if not most would disagree....may ticket ka na 'no!
ReplyDeleteHi! Have you received your copy of Balaanong Bahandi? This church's ceiuling painting is featured in the book.
ReplyDeletehello M'am, no not yet...they haven't gotten in touch w/ me for details....how to pay etc...Thank you Po!
ReplyDeleteWill remind the staff. I gave your address two weeks ago! tsk tsk tsk
ReplyDeletethank you po!
ReplyDeletehi to you Mommy Peachy!
ReplyDeleteyes, I have to fly home, I didn't have plans to go to Cebu this August kc usually sa birthday na ni Daddy Goat ako umuuwi..hehe...which is around November...
but when I talked to my mom last week she said my dad expressed interest to once again visit Sibonga for its town fiesta (and for me too its been ages and ages since I don't exactly crave town fiestas..the exact opposite of my dad who I noticed when he was younger would brave 200 kilometers of driving to just to to a town for its fiesta..LOL)...
since nobody can drive him and I would also like to see how my mom's hometown is...plus my cousin in Davao has expressed interest to see again the town if she can fly in, thought I'd be useful there even as chauffeur...but of course I would still be bringing my work with me! :-)
wish me luck po na pwede ako mag internet don ng maayos...
hahaha..Doc Philip ka..parang kabisado mo na ako *wink*
ReplyDeleteand yes, you are right..after I bought my ticket, I posted this.
Sibonga is the first ever church I saw with the painted ceiling - probably around 6 years old I remember my mom bringing me inside...
also, nakakatuwa yung fiesta nila sa barrio mismo kc my grandma used to decorate banana stalks with her silver flowers...I enjoyed that more than the town fiesta, but then, we will see...
ako rin, I prefer old churches, well maintained but retaining its old-world charm..
busy yata kayo dyan sa store Mommy Loy ah...
ReplyDeletecan we schedule a visit to the Museum kaya when you have time?
this actually also came about because Cebu Pacific had a good promo which lasts until today...pero ubos na po most of my preferred dates and walang Manila to Cebu..hay...
ReplyDeletebut may half-off sila to Osaka and Brunei..and other local destinations mga P600 to P999 na lang...waaah..wala pa rin yung Aug 27 to 30 ko na slot...
Sure! When are you coming?
ReplyDeleteI will arrive pohon Aug 8...but I will be free weekends...and I can usually escape if its mornings during the week...:-)
ReplyDeletewill be back in Manila mga Aug 18..hopefully *cross fingers* my laptop will last that long for me to continue working there...
thank you very much!
I was asked once again by the Fiesta Committee to write a message for the fiesta souvenir program ( I did 2 years ago). Dr. Noel Ponce dropped by the store this morning bearing a letter from the mayor and the committee. Whatever for from me again? But of course I always do it for Sibonga. So grab a copy when you go to the fiesta. We will be in Dr. Ponce's house for fiesta dinner by the way. Where will you be? Text me, ha.
ReplyDeletedear Mommy Loy,
ReplyDeleteI wish maka-invite ko ug tarong sa imo to join us for the fiesta sa Sibonga, pero clarohay ug istorya, wa gyod ko kahibawo unsay situation didto...ever since my maternal grandma died, nagkaguliyang na sila didto with property issues and unsa pa na dinha....basin mag-away lang ginoon..hehe..over toobah...but of course with fiestas, pwede man ginoon manaka lang ug bay..hahaha!
anyways, hopefully also my dad doesn't change his mind at the last minute and say kapoy moadto..hahay...
ooh..I just saw your post above...cge, pohon, kita tah didto...I will text you once my mom clarifies where she is going to visit...but am sure she knows asa ilang Dr. Ponce so we can also drop by there and see you *hugs*
ReplyDeleteAsa man na ang fiesta souvenir program kuhaon? sa muncipyo?
actually I noticed fiestas here don't always fall on weekends...I never thought it was unusual..hehe..except that it made us college students wish we could skip our classes :-)
ReplyDeleteNo sweat, Cat! We always go to Dr. Ponce's house because he is a family friend. He's also the president of the Parish Committee for the Cultural Heritage of the Church, so most of us heritage buffs converge in his house. I will text you gyud.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I want to invite you to an exhibit of the late Msgr. Virgilio Yap's artworks on Aug. 10. It's at 4 pm in the cathedral Museum.
hope dili mag-rain during the fiesta :-)
ReplyDeletetext you pod when I get there to Cebu / Sibonga...
if we can be back in time to Cebu (they plan to visit Aug 9 and 10) I surely would love to see the artworks (funny but I don't think I've seen much artworks while I was in Cebu tsk..tsk..)...
