The National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) (Chinese: 国家大剧院; pinyin: guójiā dà jùyuàn; literally: National Grand Theatre), and colloquially described as The Egg, is an opera house in Beijing, People's Republic of China. The Centre, an ellipsoid dome of titanium and glass surrounded by an artificial lake, seats 5,452 people in three halls and is almost 12,000 m² in size. It was designed by French architect Paul Andreu. Construction started in December 2001 and the inaugural concert was held in December 2007.
There's the "Bird's Nest" and here's "The Egg", both unique and beautiful architectural masterpieces. One can only imagine the beautiful acoustics it creates inside.
You don't need a fancy camera. Mine is just a point and shoot type and most people who join in are amateurs with point and shoot cameras as well. Anyway the camera doesn't really make the shot so much as the person taking it.
So you can take all the trips you like and still join in. ;-)
Very special looking place.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the view.
yw John...a very interesting place inside and outside...wish we had more time to explore inside...
