Now there's the brand from the past.
ReplyDeleteWhile you're at it, are these brands still available:
Purico (lard)
Baguio (Vegetable oil)
Darigold (canned milk)
White Rabbit (Candy)
White Rabbit - yep, yep...soft and hard candy nandyan pa
ReplyDeleteChicklets di ko na nakikita...
Baguio - parang di ko na rin nakikita..hehehe..we used to make a joke saying..."may bagyo sa lata" (there's a storm in the can") referring of course to Baguio na cooking oil...remember those big big cans they had for that?
but seriously..I miss my Breeze powder for washing my clothes..huhu! I should have brought one sack-full!
breeze, i haven't seen it in a long time here in davao. i use the new surf antibacterial laundry detergent the one that comes in white packaging.
ReplyDeletehinahatzing kc ako ng surf, ariel, pride etc. grrrrr.....bakit ba hininto nila ang bango pa naman ng Breeze...
ReplyDeletehow about mr. clean na lang?
ReplyDeleteThere's still Tide, isn't there?
ReplyDeleteNot to change the subject, but you have a nice facilities there for the monkey-eating Philippine eagle in Davao. Philippine Eagle Foundation is striving, thanks to the leadership of a friend who heads that organization.
ReplyDeleteI do not like Tide...too harsh...hay...I wonder if they stopped producing it, or dito lang sa Pinas di na sini-sell...
ReplyDeleteThis just triggered a thought - meron bang diclosure ng ingredients ang mga laundry/detergent soap just like in food products? Kung wala, siguro dapat meron, para alam natin if we are allergic to it
ReplyDeleteyep, merong list ng components ang soap...ewan ko lang sa mga bars (like Perla) but I still have my last bag for the Breeze Powder (incidentally, Unilever pala, tapos made in Thailand yon)...
ReplyDeleteI don't use washing machine kc but have always hand-washed...(I tried gloves pero but medyo mag-rashes din ako kc sometimes)...
Now this reminds me of an old 60's song Mr Dieingly Sad by the Critters in which the first line goes like this:
ReplyDeleteJust a breeze will muss your hair
Pinoy version:
Diyes na Breeze will wash your hair
How can we get a hold of that friend of yours Mar? I would like to visit that place someday when I visit Pinas. We used to have a pet Eagle in my dad's home province in Quezon. We played with him for 3 summers. Eagles are my favorite birds, particularly the Philippine Eagle, Bald Eagle and the Golden Eagle.
ReplyDeleteHis name is
ReplyDeleteDennis Joseph Ilustre Salvador
Executive Director
Philippine Eagle Foundation
Davao City
They do a great job of protecting the wildlife in the area especially that of the vanishing Philippine Eagle. They need help.
Here's their website:
http://www.philippineeagle.org
go ahead Mar...yan ang sarap dito sa Multiply...
ReplyDeleteeven if I don't get an answer to my question...let's see where this takes us...
before may action film to bacon to underwear..
ito ngayon laundry powder to eagles..hehe...
ayos...if matuloy ako to Davao, I shall revisit the Phil eagle sanctuary.. mga late 90s pa ako non naka-visit...
ReplyDelete*gasps* last century pa yon!! mwahaha...
That'll be great if you, and Joey can connect with Dennis. They are doing great as far as educating the locals on the conservation of the forest and, of course the Philippine eagle in the area. You might even get to tag-along in one of their release programs in the wilderness.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to one of these days. As for now, we can help by creating awareness of their effort.
inaykupoooohhhh...
ReplyDeletehonga eh..very diverse ang Phils sa ating mga animals (and plants din)...buti nga ang Phil eagle may mga taong ganito...yung tamaraw..walang masyadong pumapansin...
ReplyDeleteat least yung tarsier..one time binigyan yata si Prince Charles :-) kaya may furor for a short while...hehehe..
oh i haven't seen that brand for ages...time to experiment Cat and look for another brand that will suit you.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid so....nag try na ko ng Ariel...
ReplyDeletehmm...kung pwede lang sana e liquid soap...ah..baka shampoo na lang gamitin ko...ay..mahal...
Cat, I too haven't seen Breeze for ages! Now, I am reminded of my stint as a full-time housewife, with no household help mind you, ages ago. Hugz finally hauled me off to join him in our business/office and called back the maids, because I had started to give him nuggets of wisdom such as "Alam mo ba, Boboy, na mas magaling ang Tide maglinis at magpaputi ng damit kaysa Breeze?". LOL!
ReplyDeletetsk..tsk...poor Sir B, he could have used such a line in a laundry detergent commercial or movie....hehehe!
ReplyDeletebe that as it may, I still prefer Breeze....
maybe it just changed names..you know how the same stuff just rebrand..
ReplyDeletePurico, wala na.
ReplyDeleteBaguio Oil, meron pa.
Darigold, wala na. Although I still see the imported kind every once in a while.
White Rabbit, meron pa. Sa Chinatown.
Cat, try Cycles mild laundry detergent for babies. It is hypoallergenic and phosphate-free.
ReplyDeleteHugz used to have contact dermatitis in areas where his skin gets in contact with his clothing. His dermatologist advised him to have his clothes washed with mild detergents only. The doctor explained that the new generation of detergents are very potent and they use powerful enzymes that work on human tissue. The reason for this is that the dirt on our clothes are mostly dead skin matter. No matter how many times we rinse our laundry, there are microscopic detergent residue that remain in the clothes.
I tried a herbal laundry detergent and the original Perla on his clothes. Even with triple rinsing, they didn't work. Then I came across an ad for Cycles for babies and tried it on Hugz's laundry. He has been free of the itching and redness since.
Thanks for the tip Ms. G...pero parang wala akong nakitang Cycles ....would that be in Rustan's? (Maybe I ought to go to the bigger Rustan's or something)...
ReplyDeletethese laundry soap detergents are really harsh...e ako pa that I can't stand washing with gloves on (kumakati din kc)...I shall probably get a cauldron and just put the clothes in and stir with a ladle :-)
Perla is not that mild...e yung cousin ko nga, ginawang facial wash para sa pimples nya..ngek...ayon..nag-dry up...
Wow, all the brands I grew up with, are all gone!
ReplyDeleteToo bad the names never got into the vernacular like:
"Pakodak tayo."
"Ipaxerox 'yung article."
eh? but Mar, it did get into our vernacular...
ReplyDeletesame as "manang, may close-up ba kayo na colgate?"
Baligtad yata, Cat. "May colgate ba kayo na close up?" is more like it coz colgate is the older brand. Hehe, at least I knew of colgate before close up. Maybe because you are much younger, you knew the two brands at the same time when close up was already in the market, hehe.
ReplyDeleteAt least for Purico, I remember being told to put purico in the dough of empanada, so that it becomes light and flaky. It is actually lard or fat that makes dough flaky.
ReplyDeleteYes, gwiz. Closeup only came out in the early 70s, I think. (Well, everything is relative.)
ReplyDelete+
I wonder why White Rabbit is only sold in Chinatown. It was such a good candy, at least in those days. Hope the quality is the same as then.
Perla.
ReplyDeleteThat's another brand, originally sold as a bar, wasn't it?
ay, mea culpa..tama po kayo Ms. G...I meant yung colgate na brand parang synonymous na na ibig sabihin toothpaste..naku, nagka-ka-ikot ikot na...
ReplyDeleteand with the brands getting into categories not originally the item they made themselves famous in...am also getting confused these days...
sa totoo lang, I don't want to eat anything from China anymore..unless siguro fresh fruit...takot ako na may some weird chemical to be discovered later in the product...
ReplyDeleteakala ko before milk, pero parang yung White Rabbit meron din yata...
the final straw will somebody telling me yung lychee na prutas galing sa china ay toxic...:-(
may bar pa rin..pero it has different colors na...(kc like papaya etc.)
