A walk is one way to get rid of stress. So a walk and a small camera would be a good combination to record what I would see.
However, in my hurry I forgot that I had left the SD card on the universal reader/writer attached to the laptop. So I had to make do with the internal memory and my cellphone. I will take more care next time I stroll around..
Scenes below are a mix from the two times I went out on Sunday and strolled around.
The park featured is the Washington Sycip park, which is quite near to AIM and the Legaspi Sunday Market. Yes, I finally visited this market, which is nearer to my place, but since I had something else to do, I just stopped to sniff around and mark the things I will come back for later.
Lack of cash made me skip buying the malunggay lotion and shampoo, the beef tapa from somewhere up north, and some Japanese-made goods. However I bumped into friendly proprietors and one of the security personnel who came from Iligan..we reminisced about Iligan, its waterfalls and its development. Ages really since I've been in that place.
I came across some sugar-free goods for Marie, hence I am posting this album quickly and with information for her as I promised the two proprietors I'd pass on their info to Marie.
I had a heavy lunch/merienda/dinner at New Bombay after strolling :-)
October 21, 2008 - added a few more pics for the GB5 walk I had..a few more shops had opened on the other side, connecting it to GB1 and the displays were nice..bumped into an exhibit which was whimsical.

thanks cat =) yan nga sila. i got myself an apple pie. they’re really nice and chatty like most sunday market proprietors.
kaso na trauma ako. like i told you we stayed overnight at a friends place kasi bday nya. its the blue building where starbucks is. ang lapit lang nung market tents, tanaw ko sa guest room. kaninang umaga i sleepily got down the building and walked the short steps to the market. e gutom na ko. there were a lot of choices but when i saw the indian stand i impulsively got chicken in red sauce and chappatis. nagulat ako when the vendor said my bill came to 400 pesos. all for a small serving of chicken and two pieces of bread. sometimes these sunday markets can be expensive din talaga
but i might be back for the chai iced tea. ang sarap e.

actually, malunggay is parang making its name known din eh…malunggay tea etc. so I expect na may malunggay lotion and shampoo din, and I wasn’t mistaken…
mabango rin actually (although they may have mixed it with lavender), and more so than the green tea lotion which I had got from a stall I passed by earlier…
they say yung malunggay shampoo ok daw for scalp and dandruff…

if we had weather here which would not make one’s nose shine like a shiny bulb, tapos di masyadong sweat-inducive, maybe more people would like to visit parks..
the reason for example I liked Japan so much was you could walk and walk and walk the whole day, pero di ka mukhang dinaanan ng truck at the end of the day

the market is more spaced out, mas maraming variety (may art works pa dito ha) and more food to be enjoyed…
but I liked the offerings don sa Salcedo..when I came here, ubos na ang carabao milk, wala ng kesong puti…and I couldn’t find any durian…oh well…

its a new one, and it had really little bits of almond slivers (small enough to sip)
I had already their rose (first one I tasted) lassi, then yung mango and strawberry…so this new one ang kinuha ko kaagad..kc yung isang milk drink nila parang weird daw (acc to the waitress hehehe)…
since I like eating spicy food so much, milk, cream or lassi is good to pair with it to lessen the heat on the tongue

You don’t need an SLR to take good pictures. If you want a highly sophisticated non-SLR digital camera, take a look at the Leica M8. It costs $7000. The other point-n-shoot Leicas are the size of a credit card and are equally good (but expensive).

Kat, the Lumix TZ5 by Panasonic is a very good point and shoot camera. It has a Leica lens and has 10X optical zoom. It is like having a camera with a 24mm to 300mm lens with Image Stabilizing features. It runs around $300 to $350 USD. It is available in black, blue and silver body. I have one that’s a black body and I am very very satisfied with it. Boy Yniquez still uses the Lumix TZ1 and look at the results he is getting. Magaling din ito sa macro. Check it out.

Check it out.
hmm…thanks Joey…cge, if matuloy ako sa US this November, don na lang ako bibili…pero susme..dinadaan ako sa bossing ko don lang sa Wal-mart and probably Best Buy (argh..can’t remember)…baka wala don…
I’m still hopeful of buying a Nikon SLR one of these days..pero because its difficult bringing it along due to the size, parang nakokolekta na yata ako ng smaller cams eh…
am writing it down…of course, I am now dithering between buying this, a bigger Tumi bag for my luggage (polycarbonate with 4 swivel wheels) or another laptop…huhuhu, parang gusto ko bilhin yung HP Mini 2133 namin eh..naka sale sa employees pero parang mahal pa rin…
*the ironic thing is that I will probably reign myself in and not buy any of the three at all*

eto nga…when I ate the dessert medyo warm pa nga sya…
Gulab jamun gulab jambu is a popular northern Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Nepali, Gujarati and Punjabi sweet dish made of a dough consisting mainly of milk solids (often including double cream and flour) in a sugar syrup flavored with cardamom seeds and rosewater or saffron.
A similar Arabic dessert is lu’mat al-adi (Arabic for judge’s bread). Like the South Asian gulab jamun, rosewater syrup is often used, however saffron syrup and honey are also common.
ETO ang ingredients I got from the internet:
1 cup Carnation Milk Powder
1/2 cup Bisquick – Pancake mix
(Instead of Bisquick Pancake mix, use 1/2 cup all purpose flour and 1/2 tsp baking soda)
2 tablespoons butter -melted
Whole milk just enough to make the dough
For the Sugar Syrup
2 cups Sugar
1 cup water
Oil for frying

Eto ang instructions:
Make the dough by combining the milk powder, Bisquick, butter. Add just enough whole milk to make a medium-hard dough. Divide the dough into 18-20 portions. Make balls by gently rolling each portion between your palms into a smooth ball. Place the balls on a plate. Cover with a damp yet dry kitchen towel.
Heat the oil on high and then lower the heat to medium. Slip in the balls into the hot oil from the side of the pan, one by one. They will sink to the bottom of the pan, but do not try to move them. Instead, gently shake the pan to keep the balls from browning on just one side. After about 5 mins, the balls will rise to the surface. The Gulab Jamuns should rise slowly to the top if the temperature is just right. Now they must be gently and constantly agitated to ensure even browning on all sides.
If the temperature of the oil is too high then the gulab jamuns will tend to break. So adjust the temperature to ensure that the gulab jamuns do not break or cook too quickly.
The balls must be fried very slowly under medium temperatures. This will ensure complete cooking from inside and even browning.
Sugar Syrup
The syrup should be made earlier and kept warm. To make the hot sugar syrup add mix the 2 cups of sugar to 1 cup of water. Add 4-5 cardamom pods, slightly crushed and a few strands of “Kesar”. Mix with a spoon and then heat at medium heat for 5-10 minutes until sugar is all dissolved in water. Do not overheat, that will caramelize the sugar.
Transfer this hot syrup into a Corning serving dish. Keep warm on stove. Add the fried gulab jamuns directly into the warm syrup. Leave gulab jamuns in syrup overnight for best results. They can be served warm or at room temperature.

Gulabjamun
That and jalebi are my favorite Indian desserts. I was told by an East Indian friend that, traditionally, in India they take a little bite of jalebi before a meal to whet their appetite, then after for dessert.

Lumix
Val (kyut) also shoots with a Lumix. Don’t know which model but I’m sure it has a Leica lens.
The Leica lenses on Lumix cameras are made by Panasonic in joint venture with Leitz. The lenses are made in Japan to Leitz specifications. If they were made in Germany by Leitz, these Lumix cameras will be very expensive, definitely not anywhere near $300-$350.
Cat, if you still want a SLR, consider the Lumix DMC-L1. It’s not as heavy and bulky as a Nikon or Canon SLR, and looks more like a rangefinder camera. And just as good, if not better because of the lens.

I know that, kaya nga nasa $300 range. But so far, it is the best one I’ve ever had for the price range. There is also a high end model, the Lumix LX3. It has an f/2.0 24-60mm Leica DC Vario-Summicron zoom lens. It runs around $700 and it is not as noisy as the TZ series.
It is still my dream to own a Leica M8.

abah! mukha pa akong terorista kukuha ng picture para pasabugin ang park? garden? or building?
or mukha ba akong pam-press-photographer? sana the latter, at di ako maiinis…but this is something which really, really irks me…here you are trying to take pictures para mapunta yung ibang tao don even if virtually lang…and here you have guards asking what in the world are you doing taking pictures? hello! pano yung may cellphone kumukuha ng picture dyan sa gilid nyo…grrrrr…*halatang gutom na habang nag po-post nito at wala pang dinner*
Hahahaha, I know what you mean, kakainis nga in those situations… I mean, kung papatulan mo yung mga pinag-utusan ng mga bagay na di nila naiintindihan (hehe, does this make sense?) Would you believe na I was asked not to take pics in a high-end restaurant in Greenbelt??? When I demanded to talk to the manager, nag back-out naman yung nagbabawal sa akin, hahahaha… Siguro they thought I was from a rival restaurant!! Haha!!

Precisely… Anyways, I decided to give the restaurant a review which I posted just now at OneAsean. I just took it that the owners really didn’t know how some of their staff are implementing their policies – though I must admit they were so diplomatic about it.
I took pics of both the interiors and the food.

Op kors. Kaya ako bumibili palagi. Marami nang Pinoy na nanalo sa Lotto dito. Good thing about Canadian Lotto, lump sum yung prize, hindi over 20 years gaya sa US, at saka tax-free pa dito. Kung ang top prize ay $25M, you’ll get $25M in one payment, tax free.
Eto ang dagdag sa pangarap ko. ang top prize on Saturday’s 6/49 Lotto is $16M. If I win meron kayong Leica M8. It’s a promise on a dream, but who knows, baka magkatutuo.
