4 Eyeballs & a Beer: BEER-y Well...(album)

Earlier last week, I had a yen to visit AIM.

I kind of missed the place – from the dormitory to the library, as well as the people I had talked and interacted with during the 12 months I practically lived inside its rooms. I am not just talking about professors, and the classmates I had (who may on occasion, also visit the school)…but people who supported the “beleaguered” students – from the security guards, the library staff as well the dormitory-in-charge and the assistants to the programs and professors to name a few. I was pleased to see that they, (or the senior ones at least who were still around) still remembered me, infrequent though my visits had been to the old stomping ground. I chatted with most of them or waved a cheery hi after catching up a bit on the chizmiz…

While the passing of time from MM2005’s graduation has definitely left a mark, it still was the same good ole AIM to my eyes. True, some of the professors (favorite or feared or hated by students – take your pick) are not around either temporarily or permanently, but the dorm was still the dorm, the same old familiar tables and monobloc chairs littering the lobby while the classrooms looked unchanged to my 3-years-older eyes.

The library looked the same from the last time I visited there, but I heard the 2nd floor was different since it was renovated. I promised myself I’d go visit another time so I could at least take advantage of its silence to review some material. I strolled around the Zen garden, paid a visit to Metrobank computer room, as well as the canteen where I gobbled down the delicious hamburger that my palate still remembered wistfully once in while.

I managed to catch Weiss and Queenie before I left that day - both were quite busy since classes had already started for both MBA and MM. Weiss was handling MBA this time, while Queenie was with MM. They reminded me that a beer pub for the MM 2009 batch was to be held at SGV1 and SGV2 rooms on Friday. After promising to post it in the MM2005 yahoogroups, I proceeded to the library to cool off and quickly peruse the MRRs.

On June 6, 2008 (Friday) I paid a quick visit to the school after dropping off my things. Jobet had asked me earlier if I was going and I was glad to say yes, knowing that he would also be there. Previous years usually had “regulars” i.e. Cathy and Navneet, Shaun, Jobet and yours truly dropping by on MM beer pub parties but this time I knew fewer would be around – a surprise was Dennis C popping up. Married life suits him…his build looks bigger (or maybe it's the gym? Hmm…) while Jobet looked more prosperous than usual *grin*

Anyway, you can see from the pictures which professors were around. And yes, the usual questions from anxious MM students could still be expected. My advice to one was for him to enjoy his stint at AIM and to stop worrying about the WAC or MRR since he was going to be critiqued no matter how he slaved over it. Another gem from my end (or at least I think it was!) was to write his WAC the way his WAC reader wanted it to be written, never mind what he personally wanted to convey….hehehe…

I left earlier than usual since I still had a phone conference to attend, and I needed also to get ready for the second eyeball of that week, one which was to be held in Tagaytay, at Boboy Yonzon’s house. It was also going to be return and arrival of two friends I made during my Sanfo trip last year, as well as the birthday of Sir B (as I fondly call him) on the following week so all in all an event-filled five consecutive days...

What can I say? you start with one eyeball, and you get involved in a couple more…with a beer thrown in to boot.
