San Francisco
USA
Overnight in San Francisco due to connecting flight to Cincinnati the next morning. Last year, I waited 5 hours at the airport. Thank God for small mercies I can stay in a hotel this time.
Manang Kaiyen's friend Israel waited for me at the airport as he was also coming in..from LA if memory serves me right. A nice guy and a new friend of mine.
We took a whirlwind tour of the nightlife in Sanfo. It was a bit warm at 70 degrees Fahrenheit and upwards. The tour was because most of the places we passed by were packed with queuing peeps who wanted to dine out in this city.
Still, it was my first time to eat at a restaurant serving French food, I must thank Israel for that experience. Darn!...the dishes were just hard to pronounce for someone like me who only knows "oui" and "baguette"(is that French enough?) so I just tried to not pronounce a few letters when I read the menu selection out loud to the waiter :-)

boutique hotels are interesting and stylish...though grand and big hotels have their flair and panache, I have to say the boutique hotels I scampered around this night were fantastic little places to either take pics or relax at...

nope, its part of the set you order, and as soon as I get my things organized and my receipts found (ehem), I might find the name of the food and drinks I consumed...
what I can remember though, is that this is a selection of reds, arranged so that it compliments the palate and meal..the only thing I can think of now, is its like eating chocolate...3 different kinds of chocolate laid out in a row...di naman siguro sampler?

acc to my dinner partner, its one place in Sanfo that natives come to...and although near Union Square, di masyadong alam ng tourist..
sama ako sa susunod na punta nyo Sanfo, di ako kakain, take pics lang...*grin*

no, I just picked one dish from their menu whose description sounded good to me...the waiters will be tres charmante (?) and obliging if you ask them though for the specialty...
I still like Italian and Japanese and Filipino food the best...but this French sortie of mine was entirely new and not unwelcome...

this room in the Westin St Francis is part of the original or old hotel...which is why it does look different from the setting of other Westin hotels (like the one in Cinci, or yung sa LAX you mentioned) :-)
its smaller but more historic probably...the newer wing would be the renovated one...and probably more in keeping to what we are used to...
wala nga lang bathtub tong room kong ito..

It's interesting how the setting or ambience affects the taste of food. French food paired with wine fits in very well in fancy restaurant settings but probably not quite the same on a picnic table. A hot dog or burger will do better, chased down with coke.

its all in the taste of the person...I think lines blur nowadays...
who is to say one will not get enjoyment also out of eating caviar, cheese, wine and all the fancy stuff on a picnic table? or on a picnic out on the green grass...

Absolutely. The place Alfred, Helen and I stayed in was right in the heart of the city. The characters around that area are the guts of San Francisco (some would say gutters), but an interesting bunch nonetheless. When visiting a city, it's quite an adventure to veer off the touristy areas and take in the other side not commonly seen by the average visitor.

I did eat at the Cheesecake Factory last year with Bong (klasmeyt namin ni Sir B) who remarked I was awfully thin and proceeded to stuff me with food...ur right.sarap nga...
weirdly though, I haven't gained any extra weight at all in this trip..though you will notice later, its mostly food and aking adventure this time...

actually, I can't actually claim na type ko fine dining...like with all things, I can go one end to another, but as I am a casual person, its not something that I can do often (I move around too much and take pictures so di bagay hehehe..baka ma-shoo pa ako sa waiters *grin*)
