Dec 8, 2007, Quezon City:
I didn't take a lot of pictures during the time of the group assignment. I was too busy trying to figure out how my camera set its aperture, exposure, settings - goes to show I just really am an "automatic" person when it comes to shooting pics..hehehehe..secret is out!
Posted are shots taken during the shoot and after I was wandering around Makati while still experimenting with the various settings. In the end, I set it back to "Auto" and just clicked away when I came to GB3 for dinner. So the only improvement with me, is that I can bandy terms about and bluff my way thru shallow discussions about photography.
Nice thing about going about to take pics these time though, is I discovered a free concert inside GB5 - Philippine Opera Company and the names of the singers do not come into my head at the moment. I will include a short video of their singing as I didn't wait till they finished, being hungry after all the walking and shooting.

Sir B, since online ka...alam mo ba yung Vargas Museum sa UP?
nagtanong kc si BNK sa ibang post..e nadaan lang ako don to take a picture of the sculpture outside...so di na ako naka pag tanong-tanong at that time kc time limit kami...

and siguro Sir B you can answer BNK's question on why so many places are bawal here to take pics of...pati Luneta...susme...I'm sure serious photographers are complaining about this ban...
maintindihan ko man ang RCBC na reason (though its irksome and bothersome)..di ko ma explain yung ibang lugar kung bakit di pwede picture-ran...

Vargas Museum was built to house the various art collection and other memorabilia of Jorge Vargas, a prominent government official during the Quezon administration. His collection is so huge that when he thought of donating it to UP, UP had to allot a piece of land for an edifice to contain all of it. That's bascially it.
The sculptures outside the building, I believe, are not part of the Vargas collection. They were caused to be placed there when the prolific Nationalist Artist Napoleon Abueva was allowed by UP to set up his shop near the Museum and he had this vision of a sculpture garden where works by him and other artists would stand.

Taking photos inside museums are generally not allowed. The Vargas Museum, if I remember right, has a collection of big and small Amorsolo paintings (like the Burning of Manila) that used to hang in their compound in Shaw Blvd and in Villa Adelaida, the Vargas chalet in Tagaytay. The museum is probably guarding this against copies. There are a lot of fake Amorsolo paintings perpetuated by unscrupulous persons who, we suspect, are also responsible for faking some of dad's works. Mahaba and istorya.

Yes, even yung Casa Gorordo in Cebu has disallowed this, and its not even paintings we are talking about. The Casa Gorordo for example houses lots of antiques from Spanish and Chinese era.
You can see yung 4 poster bed, wooden utensils, antique furniture and lovely old wooden floors. Pati ang mga ito di rin daw dapat picture-ran kc ma-degrade (which I really thought would not apply to wooden pieces)...

and that was the reason I gave to the guard...nakakainis nga rin eh..may tinanong yata ring iba and it was observed by our groupmate, tapos sinabi lang - "meron"...e di naman tiningnan, yumango lang...e pwede pala ako magdrama ng ganon...

Unbelievable, sobra naman sila. It's a park, for crying out loud, and pictures are supposed to be taken there. Besides, photographs are a good way to promote tourism.

come to think of it, baka yun yung "abstraction" na gusto nila...that was one that I didn't make coz it seemed to me that all I took looked too obvious...

I agree 100% with you, BNK. Not allowing picture-taking in a public park is really stupid stupidity. Maka-punta nga dun. Sa UP ba ito?

which? yung sa Vargas Museum? yes...in fairness, yung statue lang naman sa harap na medyo sinita ako..ewan, mukha siguro akong smuggler ng mga photos of great works..kaya ayon...
as for Luneta..yung yung sabi nila...personally, if di lang ako takot dito maglalakad sarili ko sa mga spots na ganon, I'd love to stay there and take shots...I'd take my camera with me everywhere...pero..what is the use, people eye you with suspicion dito...mag-aantay na lang ako na may cellphone na yung capabilities can match a NikonD80.,,,,hmph.

oh..he is ok..cool guy..he may have gone home to England (where he comes from) or some other country...
he is one of the managers in our company...and not to bad with his sense of humor, he didn't kill me when I couldn't hold back my jokes on his name...
see..he was being teased because his name is Peter...but its pronounced like - Pee-tah (you know, bloody English accent and all)
...so I told him jokingly that it was just a matter of one more letter..and he would be known as Mr. Pi-ta Bread (his surname is Read). This then prompted some other manager guys to ask him if his middle name started with a B.
(sama ko ano? hehehe)

Why, what's with a naked butt? There are better parts to photograph.
