A Tagaytay Bandit (album)

our first meeting was totally unexpected...

I was clicking away and trying to take in my surroundings that morning..when...
he padded in, unnoticed...unfettered...
on the silent pads of his graceful feet he glided towards me...like a stealthy ninja..

and then...and then!.. he pounced...
on my legs...and then on my feet...(thank God for shoes!)

this black and white rascally charmer who unlike most unscrupulous bandits... then proceeded to tease me affectionately (I think)...

so his name was Bandido (translation: Bandit) eh?

I told him haughtily when he faced me again, that to my eyes he looked like Hitler actually, with one part of the mustache shaved off...

he glared, then stalked away...hmmm.....maybe he did understand my meoww to him (serves him right!)

he couldn't stay away from me though - he came back and did more stretching and calisthenics in front of my eyes and even preened, as if saying I should be envious of his athletic, trim and lithe body....hmph...! the nerve!

(okay, so I was feeling sensitive on this matter, I've got baby fat at my age for goodness sakes...I use that term, never mind about you gentle reader)

...and while I was trying to catch him in the act, the neck ribbon from my camera dropped down and I had a fiendishly ticklish time trying to take it back from him without too much damage to the ribbon...

finally, sleep called to him..and he left me to my breakfast.

afterwards I tried to sneak up to him to take more pictures of him gently snoozing...

he opened his eyes briefly, looked at the camera a centimeter or so from his face, then promptly went back to sleep.

should I be insulted or flattered?

nah, I think, I think...he is just a typical cousin of mine, intent on curling up in his favorite place (the banca boat/planter) and ignoring unwary visitors after surprising them. tccchh! a bandit indeed!

usually ang pusa naman medyo aloof…..I was surprised nga with this particular cat..walang paki..dumiretso lang sa akin at sumidsid sa aking mga paa, tapos, nag belly up and nagpa-tummy rub…

actually for dogs and cats, showing the belly is medyo mahirap…its a vulnerable part of their body..so I suppose comfortable na nga tong pusang to that no harm to him comes when he is inside the house…

    or baka, type nya ako..*blush*

Nice shots of the house again, Cat. You are always able to find a different angle, such that I am delightedly surprised to look at the house in a different light. =)

Bandido is unusually sweet for a cat. His ways are more like that of a dog. He waits for us, looking out the door. He snuggles at people’s feet. And he is very playful. One morning, as I was standing beside our bed, I felt something tug at my pajamas. When I looked down, there was nothing. Yun pala, Bandido was hiding under the bed and was teasing me.
Another time, we were showing some friends around the village. Bandido came along, traipsing ahead of us and looking back at us, as if saying “ang bagal ninyo, walk faster!” =)

thank you Ms. G…I’m also quite delighted on my end to see variations of how its arranged inside…for ex, hinanap ko yung dragon..abah, nasa labas pala sya…hehehe..

I blame Bandido this time though that I wasn’t able to take more pictures…nakakawili tong pusang to.

he doesn’t stay inside the house…I mean he is only let inside on particular occasions to get rid of the vermin/rats/mice…that was how I understood it..but I could be wrong, baka natutulog lang sa gilid yan kaya di ko nakita…

at saka kc with Sir B’s asthma..baka di rin ok may pusa sa bahay nila living in permanently…pa-visit-visit lang

Our two guard cats stay mostly indoors, but are not encouraged to go up to our bedrooms because of Hugz’ asthma. Although lately, they have been bolder and just now, Bandido sneaked into our bedroom and played with the floor rug. =)

Gabi kasi ngayon and although these cats stay mostly in the maids quarters, kitchens and dining areas during the day, they are locked in inside the main house at night so they can prowl for mice.

Here’s the story: ang talagang pangalan ay Mikey. And when he became so big, I started calling him Big Boy, which eventually became Pikpoy. He looks like Garfield on steroids.

whoa! those pictures show Felix washing his feet and face? cge! that would be fun to see…parang funniest video on animals except pictures lang…LOL

the reason I’ve never tried having cats back home is yun nga..if we have those inside, I have visions of them doing their thing inside the house..e kung kitty litter naman..e di mabaho pa rin…maliit lang kc lugar namin eh…gusto ko talga mag kapusa dito sa unit ko ngayon..but a Siamese would be too loud..

About 25 pounds, and he’s in good health. The three cats get regular visits to the vet, for checkup and shots. They eat canned cat food as well as dry cat food (to clean their teeth). No human food in their diet.

Lucky, one of our cats, is a blue-point Siamese and she’s not loud at all. A good cat litter should not smell – in fact, it should mask the odor of the poo and turn the pee into lumps.

Our cats were housebroken by the maids (I am really amazed at how well they did it). They have kitty litter under the stairs going from the dirty kitchen to the maids quarters. At night, when the cats are locked in, the kitty litter is moved inside. If you notice, Kat, there is no cat poop or pee smell in the house. =)

*sigh* sana madala nyo dito sa Pinas when you come here for a vacation…hehehe…para makita ko in the flesh…or in the fur as the case may be…

before kc I was thinking of getting a cat while I was still in Cebu…but when I researched about it, I remember ang sabi nila maingay ang Siamese, they talk to their owners kc…at malambing…so, naudlot…

baka hairless cat na lang if I get a home of my own..hahaha!

Siamese cats bond with only one member of a household, and in our home it’s me. It’s only to me that Lucky is malambing and meows to. The most sociable is Pikpoy who is friendly with everybody. Our three cats have distinct personalities, parang tao, hindi pare-pareho.
