Greenbelt Cinco
With my stomach growling angrily, I trudged back to my unit and deposited my gear. I had just come back from the ITO outing in Cavite, and unluckily we had left without my filling my bottomless pit of a stomach with some lunch.
I decided there and then to treat myself. I remember F8 texting me that after they had a meal at a restaurant in GB5, they proceeded to have dessert at another restaurant near it or at least on the same floor - Damaso something...
So I crossed the street and sauntered into the Restaurante Pia y Damaso. I found a room full of tourists. Upon closer inspection (discreetly of course) they turned out to be a bunch of Iberian-looking people inside the main room.
Too hungry to care, I rattled off quickly to the hovering waiter my order - pasta which had lucban sausage and roasted peppers, a ginger-calamansi freeze and the treat which I promised myself - a yummy Sisa's Dementia. And to think this was my first time ever in this restaurant but everything seemed delicioso-sounding to me...or maybe it was the hunger talking.
I was not bowled over by the pasta..maybe because it couldn't hold a candle to my favorite penne arrabbiata which I had partaken in the wilds of Boracay a couple of years ago..but the ginger-calamansi mix was a very pleasant and soothing surprise and one which made me think of mixing something similar myself back home.
The chocolatey goodness of the aforementioned dessert staved off the beginnings of my headache (yes, unfortunately if I starve myself or eat late I get excruciatingly painful migraines). I wish sometimes I was a talented writer/food critic..then I might be able to describe accurately in gastronomically ecstatic terms the feeling and taste of the chocolate swirling on my tongue..its texture very mousse-like...and of the taste of the middle filling which at that moment I could not make what the mix was, except that it was of a creamy texture....let's just say that actions speak louder than words - I savored every bite and tried to lick off unobtrusively the chocolate on the fork and...the plate..*grin*
In my haste and hunger, I didn't bring my bigger camera..and had to rely on my cellphone. I will let the pictures lure you into trying out the restaurant yourself.

Yes, I like Damaso's, too. Ganda ng lugar. Dapat, pag naupo ka, nakatalikod ka sa big glass wall nila (para di mo makita yung mga taong nagdaraan) or better yet, malapit sa bintana. Para ka ring nasa sa probinsya.

nakaharap ako sa mirror nila actually...and I faced their display of cakes and other sweet-looking stuff...maliit lang kc ang Damaso's sa GB5..are you talking about another branch of theirs?
could also have tried a seat outside in the bright sunshine...
abah Chito, dapat if mapadpad ka dito sa Makati, kain tayo sa Damaso's ulit so I can try the other treats with you...

Maganda nga yung nakikita mo ang mga taong dumaraan, parang people watching like sidewalk cafes.

youre doing pretty good to start. na-entice na ako pumunta!
yung middle ano sya puti? ma-egg ba? fluffy? or parang custard like the middle part of an eclair?
and another question: saang resto yang arrabiatta sa boracay?

too bad I forgot to take a shot of the menu, it might have a description of this concoction..basically I would call it chocolate cake with filling inside

there are tables and chairs for this resto but on the outside...but its placed in such a way that you would not see the passerbys..unless your table is near the outer door of the building...the plus sign is, you would see the greenery...

hahaha..baka sa picture ka na-entice...
I am really embarassed to admit it..thats why I glossed over the filling part..I was super hungry that I didn't analyze anymore the ingredient of that filling, reasoning to myself that I could go back another time for that step :-)
di sya fluffy..definitely not pang brazo de mercedes...it has a firmer consistency and is not white but of a cream-colored mix...may konting nuts if I am not mistaken...
if nasa house pa ako siguro, I would have slurped the chocolate swirl design off the plate....I just scraped it off...
oh yes, aside from F8 telling me they had this...the waiter also especially recommended this dessert, bestseller yata nila...

I cannot remember the name...all I recall is that it was an unimposing Italian restaurant (nothing very formal)...and..nasa gilid pala ng pinagstayhan namin na bahay..and its absurd and ironic, but I only discovered it 2 hours before we were supposed to leave...*sobs*
buong akala ko makabalik ako the next year kc for a vacation...so I thought to myself, makita ko lang to ulit alam ko na...from that time that I forgot the name, I've resolved to take pictures of the eating places I've been to *grin*

huh, dementia (more on old people) ba si Sisa? di ba she turned crazy..

hmm..I usually associate the term dementia with going crazy...
and a demented person may not always be just an older person..there are some younger ones which suffer from such a malady, sad to say...

I just received a couple of rolls of native chocolate tablets ("tablia" as we call it")...
boiled some water and dropped a whole roll in (around 12 tablets)...bahala na cholesterol or anong side-effect.....
I usually pour in the milk during the boiling process...and top it off with cream afterwards when I serve it for myself. I don't recall why I do it or where I read it, but I also put in a sprinkle of pepper (yes, yung black pepper) on the concoction, along with nutmeg and cinnamon...tsokolate c na yata to...
at bakit gumanito ang post ko? kc I remembered reading sa menu ng Damaso about tsokolate eh.

maybe you're right, the norm lang kasi dementia pertains to older people, but anyway, this is not so important,,,
masarap yung tablea mo, I know that, kasi si Mommy from Cebu, and we got something like that from time to time...
masarap nga with pepper and nutmeg, that's what LINDT would do with his new sortiments of pralines...chili and other combinations of spices..pwede ka ng mag-invent ng pralines CUH!

naku, one of my fave merienda before was: 1 cup of thick native chocolate, with crispy danggit on the left and matching native suka (vinegar) nakapair, tapos may mga containers ng chicharon (yep, Carcar or yung Villalonga before naiba na lasa nya...pero ok din Chilen or Chicharitos if ubos), pusit cut into strips, and torta pang dip ng aking tsokolate.....

At ako rin parang dinilaan ko yung plato ng Sisa's Dementia. Pwede ng di hugasan!

F8!! F8!! (pa-Sisa epek)...
I promise daanan ko yung pics mo nakapost once May comes around..hehehe...grabe lately..
oo, everytime maiisip ko si Sisa, ma-remember kita...at ang sweet treat...
cge, thanks for the tip, try ko mint tea...di rin ako mahilig ng minty stuff on the tea (even sa mint chocolates di ako mahilig)..pero since you said so, sa susunog kong balik don...
I have to admit, malapit na ngang dilaan ko yung plato din, like a dog or a cat licking a plate..e mahirap na at baka sabihin na siraan ako ng bait..so I settled for scraping the last traces of chocolate off the plate, from smears of the cake, to the design swirls...
