Kyoto
When I looked at my map, it seemed to me that the Kyoto International Manga Museum was near Nijo Castle, hence when I haphazardly planned my May 7 forays, I thought what could be more ideal than a visit to this place? - after all, manga and anime were two of the main reasons I was all gung-ho about visiting Japan.
From March 22 to May 6 of this year, there was an ongoing Kyoto Manga Festa 2008. ....Aahh! be still my beating heart!! *toki, doki* *pa-bump, ba-bump*
Even if I missed the last day of the fest due to my going around the temples, shrines and Gion the other day...I at least would still be delirious with happiness if I could visit the museum (I had missed the ninja one, so I was particularly anxious).
And so, after Nijo-jo, I got on the train since I wanted to use whatever precious time I had left on this day in browsing all the goodies in the manga museum. The museum would be still some way off from the train station where I had unloaded myself, but by this time I was more comfortable in asking the locals for some directions...
.....and for the first time on this trip to Japan, I finally hit pay dirt...I was able to get directions from an English-speaking policeman! Yehey! Hurrah! and cute pa sya! Clean cut, medium-height, bigger eyes than usual ehehehe....... however, he was fair-skinned (darn, mas fair-skinned pa sa akin!) but as usual, polite..so it was with a happier smile that I trudged on in my quest.
Probably God gave me that break because when I got to the place......waaaah! it was CLOSED! Oh doom and gloom, oh joyless afternoon!
After exchanging rueful glances with other foreigners who also happened to drop by...I finally decided to go back to Kyoto station near my hotel so I could inquire about my lost bag. Depending on that, I could either try for another temple or museum (there is a costume museum very near to the Kyoto station) or go to Gion that night to look for some geishas.
Hmm...maybe this is a good excuse..since I wasn't able to visit this museum properly this time...I ought to think of another trip to Japan in the next decade and try it again \(^ ^)/
