May 6, 2008 Kyoto
..a short visit to Lawson (from previous album you can see its designed to blend in Gion) and later we popped out to see if I would be lucky enough to see a geisha...
First, Calvin pointed out Hanamikoji Dori then we walked forwards to the place where I could watch the show of geisha dances at 4 pm the next day. The place was already closed of course, but we noticed that the building on the other side of Yasaka Hall was open and it said Gion Corner.
Apparently, Gion Corner would do quite well for my purposes of wanting to see geisha and attending a tea ceremony. A bonus was that I would be able to see bunraku , which I missed in Osaka. I got some free postcards too and picked out a schedule for the following day.
We finally surrendered and looked for a restaurant where we could eat. I was very happy with the choice of Fujiya as I loved cakes, and a strawberry cake wasn't something I could eat everyday. It was only later that I heard about the Fujiya scandal in 2007 but it wasn't that big of an issue for someone like me who has seen much worse things back home.
As long as Peko-chan was on top of my cake, I'm happy enough. While Calvin had beef curry (Japanese beef curry is delish!), I had a much heavier meal as this day was like a Osaka-Kyoto-sightseeing marathon for me.
A wonderful end to my first day in Kyoto!
Domo arigato gozaimashita!

hehehe..as if bday kuno..para makapa-picture with the cake and a bday card to boot...don't worry, there was no free cake which was given...but it was nice being greeted and given the picture by the Fujiya staff..
as I said it might as well have been my birthday din on that day...
